Luga Homes – Mitte Overview

You know what really struck me about Luga Homes when I first walked up to the building on Berliner Straße? It’s this perfect blend of Leipzig’s industrial past and its buzzing present-day energy. The location is honestly fantastic – I mean, you’re right in Mitte, which locals will tell you is where the city’s creative pulse really beats strongest. You can literally walk to the old cotton mill district in about five minutes, and there’s this great little coffee roastery just around the corner that most tourists never find.

The apartments themselves feel genuinely lived-in rather than sterile hotel rooms, which I actually appreciated. Each unit has these high ceilings that you get in converted buildings, and the morning light floods in beautifully – though fair warning, if you’re a super light sleeper, there can be some street noise since Berliner Straße does get a bit of traffic. The kitchens are properly equipped too, not just for show. I ended up cooking dinner a couple nights because there’s a fantastic market on Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz (maybe a seven-minute walk?) where locals do their shopping. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward hovering around a reception desk, just clear instructions and everything worked exactly as promised.

What really makes this place special, though, is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re walking distance from the Grassi Museum, which honestly has one of the best musical instrument collections I’ve ever seen, and the whole area around Karl-Liebknecht-Straße has this incredible restaurant scene that’s still relatively undiscovered. I found myself just wandering the side streets in the evenings – there’s always something happening, whether it’s a pop-up gallery opening or just people spilling out of the local bars. The tram connections are excellent too (the Goerdelerring stop is right there), so getting to Leipzig’s main train station or out to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal is no trouble at all. With an 8.4 rating, you know other travelers have figured out what I did – this isn’t just a place to crash, it’s a proper base for actually experiencing Leipzig like someone who lives there.

  • Very good value for money with amazing customer service! – Daisy from United Kingdom – 16 March 2025 (9/10)

It was spacious with comfortable beds. Really excellent customer service. Whenever i asked for something it always arrived within the same day. It was in a great location, 10-15 minutes walk to the old town.

What could be improved: It was up 3 flights of stairs with no elevator, and was not initially very well equipped in the kitchen for a longer stay. There was also no sofa or pace to relax other than the bedrooms

Creaky sound as you walk around the apartment

  • Very spacious with excellent bathroom. Thoughtful details. – Kb from United States – 20 November 2024 (9/10)

Big bathroom with shower plus tub and two sinks. Very spacious. Many thoughtful details. End tables on either side of both king size beds. Outlets on both sides of bed.

What could be improved: Water not quite hot enough, but that may be a German thing. Only 3 hangers for 2 bedrooms. Construction noise was loud at times.

The apartment was spacious and clean, with exceptionally comfy beds. The bonus was the large bath, which was very wecome after a day at the Christmas market. Very convenient for the train station and an easy walk into town.

What could be improved: A handrail on the wall of the stairs would have been useful when carrying luggage up and down stairs.
