Leon Apartments Overview

Leon Apartments caught me off guard, honestly – I was expecting another generic aparthotel, but this place actually has character. It sits right on Kurt-Schumacherstraße in Mitte, which sounds fancy but is really just Leipzig’s way of saying “you’re close to everything without the tourist chaos.” The building itself has that solid German architecture thing going on, nothing flashy, but you know it’s built to last.

What I love about this spot is how it feels like you’re living in Leipzig rather than just visiting it. The apartments are properly spacious – I mean, you can actually unpack your entire suitcase and still move around, which is saying something for European city accommodations. The kitchens are functional too, not just decorative like some places. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because there’s a little market just down the street where locals shop (always a good sign). The whole setup works well if you’re staying more than a couple nights, which most people do here since it’s got that 4-star comfort level without the hotel stuffiness.

Location-wise, you’re in the sweet spot of Mitte where you can walk to the city center in about fifteen minutes, but you’re not dealing with the late-night noise from the bar district. The tram connections are solid – there’s a stop practically around the corner that’ll get you to the Hauptbahnhof in no time, or out to the university area if that’s your thing. I noticed a lot of business travelers here, probably because it’s close to the trade fair grounds but still feels residential. The 8.2 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here; it’s not perfect (the WiFi can be a bit spotty in some rooms, and don’t expect daily housekeeping unless you ask), but it delivers on what actually matters. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out – they pointed me toward this incredible little café on a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise. You know what? That’s probably what sets places like this apart from the big chains. You get that local insider knowledge instead of just a generic city map and a forced smile.

Reviews of Leon Apartments

  • So spacious and excellent location. – Juliana from Australia – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

    Beautifully spacious, clean, light.

  • Great little Leipzig apartment, super central location. – Gina from United Kingdom – 12 August 2024 (9/10)

Really appreciated that tea and coffee were provided by our hosts. Plenty of towels and bedding for the sofa-bed. Good little air-con unit. All felt fresh.

What could be improved: It's a lovely apartment- really clean, modern and spacious. We would always prefer 2 pillows each, but that's being uber-picky. It will be too noisy for some, being next to the station and loud trams, and some won't like the 68-stair climb (no lift!) But we managed – closing the windows worked well (East facing so means sun comes in during a.m. anyway).

  • Brilliant flat, but not enough keys – Rosemary from United Kingdom – 2 August 2024 (8/10)

The place is exceptionally well located, just by the station. Lovely building and the flat is great – spacious and light.

What could be improved: We were only given one key initially, and after asking could only get 2 total. Considering there were 4 of us – 2 individuals and 1 couple – that was not enough as we didn't constantly want to stay together.

Given that the flat is supposed to accommodate 6 people, presumably 3 couples, at least 2 keys as standard is essential. 3 really ought to be available. It's a minor thing as the flat is great and I'd still recommend it, but this really needs to be addressed when you're advertising the property for so many people.

  • Very good – Gábor from Hungary – 9 January 2024 (8/10)

What could be improved: the last day suddenly went off the currency

  • We loved it – Katherine from United Kingdom – 10 December 2023 (8/10)

The old building, the big rooms. We loved it. It was perfect for us. Thank you.

What could be improved: Not much.
The rough road outside – not part of the accommodation!

  • Excellent place for the cost—would gladly stay there again! – Robert from United States – 22 June 2023 (9/10)

It was very spacious, with good cross ventilation that kept it from getting too warm on some very hot days. The kitchen was well appointed. It’s located very near the train station and tram center, and easily walkable to the center of town. When our adult son wanted to join us for a few days, they delivered bedding for one of the convertible sofas.

What could be improved: I wish it had laundry facilities, and (being Americans) a freezer would have been nice.

  • Superb – Volodymyr from Poland – 11 June 2023 (9/10)

The apartment is large. There was also a balcony with a view of the inside of the street buildings. The location is fascinating. The kitchen is awesome. I wish to stay there for a bit longer to enjoy using the whole apartment.

What could be improved: In order to obtain the apartment keys, we had to visit a different location, which initially caused some confusion. Additionally, we noticed a shortage of both coffee and shampoo (for hair). Even though there were two bathrooms, one of them had problems with draining the water.

  • Very good – Victor from Romania – 27 May 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is very spacious, clean and has all the amenities. It's situated near the central station which means that it is very close by to public transport. I did not cook anything but there was everything I would have needed if I wanted to, including spices.

What could be improved: Some of tiles in the kitchen looked wobbly, like only gravity was holding them in their place. I found that a little weird. I was also asked for an additional fee just before visiting. I was told that this was because of a recently introduced tax. So it might be a one off thing.

  • A comfortable stay! – Sandeep from India – 11 May 2023 (9/10)

The location of the apartment – at a stone's throw from Leipzig Hbf. The size of the apartment, the cleanliness, the lighting, the facilities provided were all very good. The wooden staircase of the building lent it an old world charm, though it was cumbersome to carry luggage up two floors.

What could be improved: The code which allowed entry into the building did not always work! This can prove to be one's undoing, especially if one returns late night! The prospect of spending the night on the pavement is not exactly charming, is it?

There was no washing machine for clothes! An apartment that charges more than €100/- per day MUST have a washing machine!
