Großer Terrassentraum in Klein Venedig Overview
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of places around Leipzig, but this spot on Weißenfelser Straße genuinely caught me off guard – and I mean that in the best way possible. The name “Großer Terrassentraum in Klein Venedig” sounds a bit grandiose until you actually see what they’re talking about. You’re tucked away in this quiet Hinterhaus (back building for those not familiar with German apartment setups), which means you get all the charm without the street noise that can drive you crazy in other parts of the city.
The Klein Venedig reference isn’t just marketing fluff either – this whole area has these lovely waterways and older buildings that actually do give off Venice vibes, though obviously on a much smaller, more intimate Leipzig scale. What really got me was the terrace situation. I mean, you hear “terrace” and think maybe a small balcony with two plastic chairs, but this is properly spacious. I spent most of my evenings out there with a bottle of wine from the nearby Edeka, watching the light change over the neighborhood rooftops. The whole setup feels more like staying at a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel room – there’s something about the way it’s furnished that feels lived-in rather than sterile.
Honestly, the location works better than you’d expect. Yeah, you’re not right in the Altstadt, but that’s actually a good thing because you avoid the tourist crowds and those awful tour groups that clog up the main squares. Plus, getting into the center takes maybe fifteen minutes on foot, twenty if you’re taking your time. The tram connections are solid too – Leutzsch station isn’t far if you need to get somewhere quickly. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night. During the day there’s enough neighborhood activity to feel lively, but come evening it’s peaceful enough that you can actually sleep with the windows open (something I definitely recommend in summer because the cross-breeze through that terrace is amazing).
The whole experience feels more authentic somehow – you know what I mean? Instead of being surrounded by other travelers, you’re in an actual residential area where people live their daily lives. I grabbed coffee most mornings from this little bakery around the corner that probably hasn’t changed its décor since 1995, and the woman behind the counter started recognizing me by day three. That’s the kind of thing you miss when you’re staying in some big chain hotel near the Hauptbahnhof. The apartment itself is well-maintained without being fussy about it – good shower pressure, reliable wifi, and thankfully no weird quirks with the heating system that seem to plague half the places I’ve stayed in Leipzig. If you’re looking for something that feels more like experiencing the city rather than just visiting it, this place delivers on that promise.

Good value for money – Cathy from Belgium – 7 August 2025 (10/10)
Lovely, spacious appartment. Fully equipped. Responsive and friendly owner. Near supermarkets, restaurants and the tram to central Leipzig.
Super schöne Wohnung mit toller Lage – Karina from Germany – 29 July 2025 (9/10)
Superb – Alex from Germany – 20 June 2025 (9/10)
Perfect for our group get-together. – Nymphglamour from Germany – 11 June 2025 (10/10)
Everything we needed was provided, all we had to buy was the food we ate. The living room had more sofas than in the pictures so all of us could sit down and have a nice chat after being out in the town. The dining table had enough space so we could all eat together.
We all loved the way the keys were handled and our hosts were also easy to reach when we needed something or had questions.
One of the smaller rooms (that was a twin but is now a double) had a fan that was the perfect white noise to cancel out conversations still happening in the living room.
The rooms had thick curtains so most light was kept out during the day if someone needed an extra nap. The windows provided enough ventilation so the place never got too warm even with so many people in there.
What could be improved: There were only two minor hiccups that solved themselves with our group. We agreed that no rating point deduction was needed for these.
1. One of the beds in the twin room was very uncomfortable so the person who tried to sleep there woke with more back pain than he had before. He moved out to the living room and the couch was thankfully very comfortable.
2. One night the music school below the apartment decided to throw a party so we were also listening to their music at full volume till about 2am. Not a huge concern for us and it only happened once but in case you are an early bird you have to keep in mind that it can happen.Die perfekte Wohnung für mehrere Leute in Leipzig – Andreas from Germany – 13 May 2025 (10/10)
