Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Apartment M – nice view” pop up in my Leipzig search results, I almost scrolled past it. The name’s pretty understated, you know? But I’m actually glad I didn’t, because this place turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special in Alt-West.

The apartment sits on the fourth floor of this solid German building on Otto-Schmiedt-Straße, and when they say “nice view,” they’re being modest. From up there, you get this lovely panoramic sweep over Leipzig’s western district that honestly made my morning coffee routine something to look forward to. The whole Alt-West area has this great mix of old Leipzig character and newer residential vibes – it’s not touristy at all, which I mean as a compliment. You’ll find yourself walking past locals heading to work, little corner bakeries that smell incredible at 7 AM, and these tree-lined streets that feel properly German without being stuffy about it. The apartment itself has that clean, modern aesthetic that works really well in the space – nothing fancy or trying too hard, just thoughtfully arranged and comfortable. What struck me most was how quiet it gets in the evenings, despite being in a residential area with decent public transport connections.

Getting there is straightforward enough, though I’d definitely recommend having your phone GPS ready because the street numbers can be a bit tricky to spot from the tram. The building entrance is secure (which is reassuring), and yes, you’re climbing to the fourth floor, but the stairwell is well-lit and maintained. I actually enjoyed having that little bit of elevation – it adds to the view and keeps street noise to practically nothing. The check-in process was smooth, and the host clearly knows their stuff about the neighborhood. They pointed out a few local spots I never would’ve found otherwise, including this fantastic little restaurant about a ten-minute walk away that does incredible regional dishes. What really sold me on the place, though, was how it felt after a full day of exploring Leipzig’s city center – you come back to this calm, residential bubble where you can actually relax and spread out your stuff. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you factor in the value, the genuine local experience, and yeah, that view that’s definitely nicer than advertised.

  Situata într-o zonă liniștită, verde, am făcut 15 min cu mașina până la o parcare din centru. Locuri de parcare lângă bloc. Noi am ajuns când era un festival de vin. Era foarte frumos în centru 😊
  Bucătăria ok, deși noi nu am folosit-o.
  Comunicare foarte, foarte bună cu gazda. Ne/a răspuns imediat la orice întrebare.

  The apartment was exactly as pictured. It was very comfortable and very quiet and peaceful and had everything we needed for cooking, doing laundry, etc. The storage was amazing–several large wardrobes and drawers–so we were able to store everything away. The views out the windows were lovely, too. The neighborhood was quiet and beautiful. It was a lovely escape from the center of the city. We highly recommend this place!
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is on the fifth floor (European fourth floor), so it was a long way to carry luggage, groceries, etc., but we knew this going in and it was not a problem for us. We were getting around Leipzig by tram, and it was a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest tram stop (and grocery store), but again, we knew this ahead of time and it was not a problem for us. We really loved this place!

  Die Lage ist leider ein Stück außerhalb, aber deshalb ist es auch ruhiger, also eigentlich ein Pluspunkt. Die Wohnung selbst hat alles was man braucht und ist gemütlich eingerichtet. Schlüsselübergabe hat sehr kurzfristig einwandfrei geklappt, danke nochmal!

  Natalia is a wonderful hostess. All you need either for a short or for a long-term stay is available. The flat is clean and fully furnished. The area around the flat is very green so you can enjoy the nature. The downtown is about 10-15 minutes with a car or with a tram.

  Die ausgezeichnete Ausstattung bis hin zu Details wie reichlich Haken und Kleiderbügeln sowie Mehrfachsteckdosen hob diese FeWo von bisher gebuchten Appartements ab. Die Vermieterin/Gastgeberin war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
  Positiv war die ruhige Lage in einem gut sanierten Plattenbau; 4. Stock ohne Aufzug bedeutet allerdings eine kleine sportliche Herausforderung.
  
  What could be improved: Eine ganz kleine Anregung: Falls mit vertretbarem Aufwand machbar, Armaturen im Bad und evtl. Küche gegen solche tauschen, bei denen Wassermenge und Temperatur mit getrennten Drehgriffen (re/li) einstellbar sind und bei denen eine Maximaltemperatur von etwa 40°C nicht unbeabsichtigt überschritten werden kann. Dadurch kann ggf. Energie eingespart werden und Kleinkinder vor Verbrühungen geschützt werden. Bei uns zu Hause haben wir vor einigen Jahren eine derartige Armatur im Austausch einbauen lassen; sie benötigt keinen Stromanschluss.

  Die Wohnung ist zweckmäßig mit liebe eingerichtet,
  Super auch für einen längeren Aufenthalt.
  Alles ist vorhanden Tee, Kaffee, Fit , Shampoo etz.
  Waschmaschine, wäschetrockner …
  Außerdem dufter es angenehm.
