So I stumbled across Villa von Maximus purely by accident – was looking for something near Leipzig’s center but not right in the tourist chaos, you know? This place sits in Lößnig, which honestly I’d never heard of before, but it’s actually this pretty residential area about fifteen minutes south of the main action. The hotel itself is tucked into Limburgerpark, and I mean literally – you’re surrounded by this lovely green space that locals use for morning jogs and dog walks. It’s one of those spots where you feel like you’ve discovered something the guidebooks missed.

The building has this elegant villa vibe (hence the name, I suppose), and when I walked in, the whole place just felt… well, grown-up in a good way. Not stuffy, but like someone actually thought about design instead of just throwing together whatever was cheapest. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful – they knew I was trying to get to the Gewandhaus for a concert and suggested taking the tram from nearby rather than dealing with city center parking, which saved me about twenty euros and a massive headache. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing revolutionary, but everything works properly and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this after too many nights on mattresses that felt like cardboard). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – being in a residential area means you’re not dealing with drunk tourists stumbling around at 2 AM.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t the place if you want to roll out of bed and be at the Christmas market in five minutes. But honestly? That’s kind of the point. You get this nice buffer from the tourist intensity, plus you’re staying in an area where actual Leipzigers live, which I found way more interesting. There’s a decent bakery just down the street where locals grab their morning coffee, and the park is genuinely lovely for an evening walk after a day of sightseeing. The tram connections are solid once you figure them out – takes about twenty minutes to get to the Markt, maybe fifteen to the university area. Parking is free and actually available, which anyone who’s tried to park in Leipzig’s Altstadt will appreciate. I mean, it’s not the flashiest place you’ll ever stay, but sometimes you just want somewhere comfortable and well-run where you can recharge without breaking the bank or feeling like you’re in some corporate hotel machine. The 8.5 rating makes total sense – it’s exactly what it promises to be, nothing more, nothing less.

  Das Haus war sehr schön , toll eingerichtet , viel Platz und sehr ruhig gelegen.
  
  What could be improved: Das 3. Doppelzimmer mit den 2 einzelnen Betten war für 2 Erwachsene sehr winzig , für Kinder okay..Leidet hat die Klimaanlage in einem der beiden größeren DZ bei Betrieb ständig getropft .
  Sehr sehr traurig war , dass das Außengelände sehr ungepflegt war , Rasen seit Wochen nicht gemäht , Unkraut mannshoch , Truhe für Sitzauflagen kaputt , da stand das Wasser drin.Die Sitzauflagen für die Lounge waren bei Anreise nass.

  Am besten hat uns die Größe und Lage der Unterkunft gefallen ein sehr ruhiger Stadtteil von Leipzig aber man hat auch eine schnelle Anbindung zur Autobahn. Der Whirlpool war top

• Schöne Unterkunft mit einigen Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten – Laura from Germany – 19 May 2025 (7/10)

  Generell waren wir mit der Unterkunft zufrieden. Die Lage ist top, die Unterkunft ist ruhig gelegen aber gleichzeitig ist man schnell im Zentrum, die Tramhaltestelle ist nicht weit entfernt, ebenso Supermarkt, Bäcker, Restaurants. Die Aufteilung der Räume hat uns gut gefallen und ist für eine größere Gruppe super. Auch die große Leinwand ist toll, ebenso die Sauna.
  
  What could be improved: Wir hatten die Unterkunft vor allem wegen der Ausstattung gebucht, da wir uns einfach ein gemütliches Wochenende hauptsächlich in der Unterkunft machen wollten. Leider war der Pool nicht nutzbar da er wirklich dreckig war und offensichtlich schon länger nicht mehr gereinigt wurde. Da der Pool neben der Sauna (diese konnten wir zum Glück gut nutzen) ein Hauptgrund für unsere Buchung war, war das natürlich sehr schade. Auch der Rasen im Garten war schon seit längerem nicht mehr gemäht weswegen wir diesen auch überhaupt nicht nutzen konnten.

  The openness of the family room area and the glass kitchen table area were great for our family of 7. It was just a short walk to use the public transportation system or go to the grocery store. Also the neighbor was very nice and let us borrow their wine opener.
  
  What could be improved: It was not a well stocked kitchen. The lighting was difficult to figure out how to turn on and off the lighting and it was too dark – felt at times more like mood lighting than providing sufficient light in a room. And never was able to figure out how to use the washing machine.

  Perfect place to go on vacation. Close to everything, in the center of Leipzig. A supermarket nearby. The house is well decorated, big and very comfortable, everything is new and there is private parking and air-conditioning. I highly recommend.
