This little gem sits right on Balzacstraße in Leipzig’s Mitte district, and I mean *right* in the thick of things. You’re basically a five-minute walk from the Nikolaikirche where all those peaceful revolution protests started back in ’89, which is pretty wild when you think about it.

The apartment itself has that perfect lived-in vibe that actually makes you feel at home instead of like you’re staying in some sterile hotel room. The floors creak a bit when you walk around (it’s an old building, what do you expect?), but there’s something charming about it – reminds you that you’re staying somewhere with actual character. The windows face the street, so you’ll hear some city sounds, but it’s not the kind of noise that’ll keep you up. Actually, I found it sort of comforting – you get the morning coffee shop bustle and people heading to work, then it settles down nicely in the evenings. The kitchen is surprisingly well-stocked too, which was great because there’s this fantastic little market just around the corner on Gottschedstraße where you can grab fresh bread and local stuff.

Location-wise, you’re golden here. The Gewandhaus is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and if you’re into the whole Bach thing (I mean, this is Leipzig), St. Thomas Church is right there. But what I really loved was how easy it was to just wander – you’ll stumble onto those beautiful old courtyards and passages that tourists usually miss because they’re sticking to the main squares. The tram connections are solid too, though honestly, you probably won’t need them much since everything worth seeing is walkable. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – none of that awkward lobby waiting around. The 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, just a really solid, comfortable place to stay that happens to put you right in the heart of one of Germany’s most interesting cities. Fair warning though – book ahead if you’re coming during Bach Festival season, because good luck finding anything decent that week.

  The description "traumhafte Wohning" is indeed more than apt. The apartment is located in a very pleasant and quiet neigbourhood and turned out to be closer to the city centre than we had thought, looking at the map beforehand (about fifteen minutes walking). There was (free) parking space nearby and there were nice restaurants, as well as a very good bakery for our breakfast, around the corner, that is to say, within easy walking distance. We could not have wished for a better place to stay in Leipzig.
  Our host was abroad during our stay in his apartment, but responded immediately when we contacted him with a question about something concerning the apartment.
  
  What could be improved: There was nothing we did not like. Our stay was everything we had hoped for. For some people it might be worth knowing that you have to walk up one flight of stairs to reach the apartment. It did not bother us.

  Conveniently located apartment on the 1st upper floor in a nice and quiet environment. A large living-room that also includes a small kitchen. Separate bedroom (with a double-bed with comfortable mattresses). Spacious balcony facing the inner-yard. Modern bathroom. Fast internet. Well-working heating. Helpful and friendly host.
  
  What could be improved: Just two suggestions: In the otherwise well equipped kitchen it would not hurt to add a few tea spoons and a spade to use with the frying pan. One of the table chairs could be swapped (or at least do with a repairment).

  The owner of this house is friendly and this apartment is located at a quite quiet place. Though the apartment is a bit old but still comfortable.
