Gottschedstraße is this lovely tree-lined street that’s quiet enough for a good night’s sleep but you’re literally a five-minute walk from all the action around the old town.

The apartment itself has that perfect lived-in feeling without being worn down – like staying at a well-traveled friend’s place who actually has good taste. The ceilings are high (typical Leipzig style), and there’s this nice mix of modern amenities with some original character details that remind you you’re in a city with actual history. What I really appreciated was the kitchen setup – not just a mini-fridge and hot plate situation, but proper equipment if you want to grab some fresh bread from the bakery down the street and actually make yourself breakfast. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to plan your day or – let’s be honest – upload those Völkerschlachtdenkmal photos.

Here’s the thing about the location that makes it special: you’re close enough to hear the trams rumbling by occasionally (I found it sort of soothing, actually), but Gottschedstraße itself doesn’t get the foot traffic noise that some of the main drags do. Walking to the Gewandhaus takes maybe eight minutes, and if you’re into the whole Bach thing, St. Thomas Church is an easy stroll through some of Leipzig’s prettiest streets. The neighborhood has that authentic feel – there’s a spätkauf on the corner where the owner remembers your face after day two, and you’ll see more locals than tourists grabbing coffee at the café around the block. I stayed there during one of those chilly October weeks when Leipzig gets all moody and atmospheric, and coming back to this warm, well-lit space after wandering around the city felt exactly right. The 9.3 rating makes perfect sense – it’s the kind of place where everything just works without trying too hard to impress you.

  Die gemütliche und liebevoll eingerichtete Wohnung ist sehr zentral in Leipzigs Mitte gelegen. Wir konnten unser Auto in der Tiefgarage stehen lassen und alle Sehenswürdigkeiten zu Fuß erreichen. Seitens des Gastgebers erhielten wir – neben erforderlichen Infos – auch viel Tipps für Restaurants und Bars in der Nähe. Die Kommunikation war sehr nett und wir hatten das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein.
  In der Wohnung wartete eine persönliche Nachricht – auch sehr nett. Es hat uns in der Wohnung an nichts gefehlt. Wir haben leider nicht alles genutzt (Küche, Waschmaschine..), aber es ist wirklich alles da.

  The location is very close to the center. Around there is everything you need. Restaurants, supermarket, coffee shops, all in very close walking distance. The apartment is not that big but it is cleverly compartmentalized. Gregor (the host) is great, very responsive. I would definitely chose this location again.
