What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays at night despite being so central. The Thomaskirchhof has this peaceful, almost reverent atmosphere that you don’t get in most city center locations. Couples seem to absolutely love it here (and I can see why — there’s something romantic about those evening strolls around the illuminated church).

The Room Experience

The room design strikes this nice balance between modern comfort and respecting the building’s character. You’ll find clean lines and contemporary furnishings, but they haven’t stripped away all the historical charm. The windows — well, depending on which side you’re on — either overlook the square or give you glimpses of the surrounding historic streets. What struck me most was the attention to detail in the finishes and how everything felt thoughtfully chosen rather than just standard hotel issue.

The breakfast setup here actually impressed me more than I expected. They do this continental buffet that covers all the basics, but what’s nice is they’ve included proper vegetarian options that go beyond just fruit and yogurt. You know what I mean — actual substantial choices that make the meal feel complete. The dining area has this warm, welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger over your coffee rather than rush out to start sightseeing.

  Very good place generally. Very nice location. Close to tourist spots and nice view. Beautiful classical building. Friendly staff including every front desk staff and the cleaning lady. Lovely mini bar. My mom and I stayed there for 4 nights. Good value for money.
  
  What could be improved: The bathroom drain was clogged. I told the front desk lady. She said she would find someone to fix it but it wasn’t fixed. I had to turn the shower water down really low to take a shower. The elevator was broken at that time but that can be understood. So far my favourite place in Germany.

  Wonderful location, just perfect. Beautiful rooms. Beautiful breakfast room and a breakfast that was truly fantastic. Really nice staff, super helpful and friendly. And, I loved the coffee, immediately ready and good quality.
  
  What could be improved: OK the doors slamming all throughout the property are super annoying. Guests could be told to please close the doors quietly at check-in. It could be part of the orientation. Or, a simple sign on the inside of each door asking for care and quiet. I counted eight “slams!” between 0730 and 0800 and this was just annoying as hell.
