theleaf – design apartment & café Overview
You know what caught me off guard about theleaf? I walked in expecting just another trendy design hotel, but this place actually lives up to its name – there’s something genuinely organic about how everything flows together. Right on Jahnallee in Mitte, it sits in this sweet spot where Leipzig’s creative energy really hums, and honestly, the café downstairs sets the tone for the whole experience. I mean, when you can grab proper coffee without leaving your building, that’s already winning in my book.
The apartment-style setup is where theleaf really shines – these aren’t your cookie-cutter hotel rooms with beige everything. Each space feels thoughtfully curated (without being pretentious about it), with clean lines and natural materials that actually make sense together. The design walks that tricky line between Instagram-worthy and genuinely comfortable to live in for a few days. What I appreciated most was the attention to details that matter when you’re settling in somewhere – proper lighting for reading, surfaces where you can actually spread out your stuff, and yeah, the kind of shower pressure that makes you want to extend your stay. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you’re there.
Location-wise, you’re in the heart of what makes Leipzig interesting without being stuck in tourist central. Mitte puts you walking distance from the galleries and independent shops that give this city its character, plus you can easily hop over to the historic center when you want the classic Leipzig experience. The neighborhood has this lived-in creative vibe – you’ll see locals heading to work at design studios mixed with university students grabbing coffee. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle like anywhere in Mitte, but the tram connections are solid if you’re planning day trips around Saxony. One thing to note – because it’s right in a lively area, weekend evenings can get a bit spirited outside, though the windows do a decent job keeping things quiet enough to sleep. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that overly formal hotel dance. This is the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because it just works – comfortable enough to feel at home, interesting enough to remind you why you travel.

Super schönes Appartement. Tolle Lage.
Top Lage, top Ausstattung – Andrea from Germany – 22 June 2025 (9/10)
Eine tolle Altbauwohnung mit hohen Decken und stilvoller Einrichtung. Mit allem ausgestattet, was man braucht.
What could be improved: Mitunter etwas laut wegen der Straßenbahn, aber nur tagsüberGreat apartment and great host – Valerio from Italy – 5 June 2025 (10/10)
The host Felix was absolutely wonderful. We arrived late and he had to send someone at the last minute to hand us the keys. I also forgot the keys in my pocket when I checked out and he was really gracious to arrange an alternative for me. He made our stay really easy and pleasant. Thank you Felix!
What could be improved: Nothing to flagEine einzige positive Erfahrung – Andrea from Germany – 30 May 2025 (10/10)
I highly recommend this apartment because of its excellent facilities. – Pauline from Ireland – 14 January 2025 (10/10)
We needed to do our own cooking for special diets and the kitchen was very well equipped. In addition, there was a small, well-stocked supermarket just opposite. Reviews from some guests had mentioned the trams running outside, so we were prepared for them, but in fact we were not at all disturbed by the slight occasional noise from below – and we are both used to sleeping in very quiet rooms. There is a separate bedroom, and one of us also used one of the two sofa beds in the sitting room. The apartment is a pleasant, easy 20-minute walk from the city centre, which we visited every day.
What could be improved: I found it hard to think of anything that could have been better, but perhaps the sofa bed could have been a little more comfortable.Great location and style – Kornelia from United Kingdom – 31 December 2024 (7/10)
Great look

Félix is a really good host, very reactive, we were super well received, fresh roses in the kitchen & living room!
Supermarket across the street
Felix offers parking also across the street for a little surcharge.
Not far from the city center

What could be improved: – everything was top!Superb – Yasir from Germany – 11 March 2023 (9/10)
The apartment was spacious, had a massive book shelf which us book readers loved. It put us right in the mood for some cozy reading in the cold weather. Location is quite central. We were in the center on foot in 15 min. Tram stop is nearby and lots of restaurants around. Super market right in front and Aldi in the street behind. Perfect place to stay in Leipzig
