The Westin Leipzig Overview

You know what struck me first about The Westin Leipzig? It’s actually got this understated confidence that feels rare in a four-star hotel. Walking up to the entrance on Gerberstraße, you’re right in the thick of Leipzig’s old town – I mean, literally a two-minute walk from the Markt and all those gorgeous medieval buildings. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which honestly I appreciated after staying at some places that feel like they’re auditioning for a design magazine.

The rooms are what you’d expect from Westin – those signature white beds that are genuinely as comfortable as they claim, though the real winner is the soundproofing. Leipzig’s city center can get pretty lively (especially when there’s something happening at the Gewandhaus), but I slept perfectly. The bathrooms are spacious with decent water pressure, and here’s a detail that matters: they actually provide enough towels without you having to call down. Location-wise, you’re golden – Thomaskirche where Bach worked is basically around the corner, and if you’re into the whole historic thing, you can walk to pretty much everything worth seeing. I spent a morning just wandering down toward the old market square with a coffee, and it felt like having the city’s living room as your front yard.

What I really liked was how the staff seemed to actually know Leipzig, not just the hotel. The front desk guy gave me this perfect recommendation for dinner at a little spot on Kleine Fleischergasse that I never would’ve found otherwise. The hotel restaurant is solid but not groundbreaking – good for breakfast (and their coffee is legitimately excellent), though I’d skip dinner there and explore the neighborhood instead. One small thing that bugged me: the elevator situation can be a bit slow during peak check-in times, but that’s pretty minor. The fitness center is well-equipped if you’re into that, and there’s a decent business center if you need to print boarding passes or whatever. Honestly, with an 8.3 rating, you know it’s doing most things right without being flashy about it. If you want to be in the heart of Leipzig with comfortable, reliable accommodations and staff who won’t look at you blankly when you ask about local recommendations, this is your spot. It’s not going to change your life, but it’ll give you a really solid base for exploring one of Germany’s most underrated cities.

Reviews of The Westin Leipzig

  • Lovely, clean, high end hotel, needs some updating for modern travelers. – Eric13000 from United States – 16 June 2025 (8/10)

The Westin is a lovely hotel, perfectly walkable from the HBf. It is clean, elegant and the staff were friendly and helpful. Top tier!

What could be improved: The room had one massive flaw – there were no power outlets by the bed! No power outlets anywhere! A huge mistake for any hotel in 2025, let alone a hotel of this stature. No USB ports whatsoever. To crawl on the floor, under a desk, to plug in a phone charger is simply unacceptable in 2025.

  • as expected, lovely, friendly staff, very welcoming – Wilhelm from United Kingdom – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

    it was just easy.

What could be improved: My daughter didn't like the pool. She was scared. But she is 9 years old and we went to the pool at 10 pm.
    So no complaints.

  • Gut – Lutz from Germany – 7 June 2025 (8/10)

  • Very good – Wamser from United States – 1 June 2025 (8/10)

    Very nice

What could be improved: Wait staff at bar were a little on edge. Everyone else were great

  • A very comfortable, high quality stay- I would highly recommend the Westin Leipzig – Carla from United Kingdom – 22 April 2025 (9/10)

the swimming pool. the comfort of the rooms, the quietness of the room, the friendliness of the staff

What could be improved: the orange juice at breakfast was diluted with water which was a disappointment

  • Great stay – Gabbyo from Germany – 19 April 2025 (9/10)

The hotel is conveniently located very close to the train station and city center. Overall the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and had all the basics, plus nice amenities like a lavender balm to help you sleep. We really liked the decor and had an amazing view of the city.

What could be improved: As foreigners who are somewhat unfamiliar to the spa culture, we asked for guidance about how to use the sauna. Im guessing this is not common because the lady we asked seemed confused by our questions. We figured it out and it was fine but it would have been nice to get a bit of an explanation. That being said, the sauna/fitness/pool area is great, just keep in mind you have to pay 10 euros for the sauna and pool (but not the gym).

    The pillows weren't comfortable.

  • My go-to hotel in Leipzig. – Eric from Canada – 13 April 2025 (9/10)

The Westin still has, for my money, the best breakfast buffet in Germany. There is a lot of variety and the room is large, so it’s possible to find a quiet spot.

What could be improved: They once had bar fridges, Now, instead of just leaving them empty, they’ve removed them altogether. A small fridge is exceedingly handy, especially if you have medicine that needs to be kept cold.

  • 100% recommendations. Based on very good service, nice feasibility and perfect location. – Reiko from Germany – 9 March 2025 (9/10)

Very nice equipment and very educated staff.

What could be improved: Need to pay extra for spa.

  • Superb – Joana from Germany – 3 March 2025 (9/10)

Friendly staff, nice fitness facility, nice view from room, comfortable room and waiting areas, great check in/check out times

What could be improved: Extra fee for use of swimming pool

  • We come back – Sven from Germany – 20 February 2025 (9/10)

Super Personal!David ist ein top Barchef!
