Süd-Apartments Overview
So I stayed at Süd-Apartments on Wolfgang-Heinze-Strasse last spring, and honestly? It’s one of those places that grows on you. When you first pull up, it doesn’t scream “Instagram moment” – it’s actually pretty understated in that practical German way. But here’s the thing about the Süd district that most tourists miss: you’re basically living like a local here, and I mean that in the best possible way.
The apartments themselves are solid – clean, functional, with those sturdy German fixtures that’ll probably outlast us all. What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re not stuck out in some suburban wasteland. The kitchenettes are honestly better equipped than my last Airbnb in Berlin (and way cleaner). There’s this great little Turkish place just around the corner that the front desk guy recommended – turns out half the neighborhood eats there, which should tell you something. Walking to the city center takes about 20 minutes if you’re moving at a decent pace, or you can hop on the tram system, which… well, Leipzig’s public transport actually works, unlike some cities I could mention.
You know what really sold me on this place though? It’s the kind of spot where you can grab groceries at the Rewe down the street, cook dinner while planning your next day, and not feel like you’re missing out on some “authentic hotel experience.” I mean, sometimes you just want to do laundry and eat something that isn’t schnitzel, right? The staff speaks English well enough, though they seemed genuinely happy when I attempted my terrible German. Parking was easier than I expected – there’s street parking that doesn’t require a PhD in German municipal law to figure out. The 7.2 rating makes sense to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on actually experiencing Leipzig instead of fancy hotel amenities you’ll barely use, Süd-Apartments hits that sweet spot between budget and comfort.

What could be improved: Extremely not recommended! The apartment, despite the heating on, was always very cold, many things were missing in the kitchen, the pan had the handle off and the soap in the bathroom had run out and we each had one towel. They don't speak English and it was difficult to be able to communicate even in a basic way, through Booking we made the payment in the structure, we hoped to do it during check-out but the night before, just before midnight, a message was sent to us through Booking where we they asked when we would have paid, we answered them, receiving a response only the next day, after we had already left the structure. We had a flight at 12 from Berlin, and we had to leave the structure at exactly 5:40 but we found the entrance door locked with no possibility of going out, we called the number of the structure several times without ever receiving an answer, we waited for hours in the cold that someone came to open us, missing buses and trains that we had already paid for that would allow us to reach the airport in time, for a total of over €200 lost in the means of transport we had lost and exactly 3 hours passed to ask for help even having to call the police and firemen to come and open that door for us, finally at 8:30 past the factotum finally opened us having absolutely no idea what had happened. We had to pay for other trains and even €60 for a taxi from the Berlin station to the airport in order not to miss our flights and the hotel manager didn't even think of apologizing but only asking for his bloody money when instead it was their fault and their unclear communication and in German we have lost more than 200€.Pleasant – Petra from Czech Republic – 12 September 2022 (6/10)
What could be improved: Everything was great except the towels (too small and rough).
Net, erg ruim appartement – Martine from Netherlands – 27 August 2022 (7/10)
Heel ruim appartement met diverse faciliteiten
What could be improved: Lawaaiige weg
