You know what struck me first about the Sleepwell Apartment Klostersuite? It’s actually tucked away on the third floor of this gorgeous old building on Klostergasse – and I mean properly tucked away, not just marketing-speak hidden. The street itself is one of those narrow cobblestone numbers that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into old Leipzig by accident, which honestly is exactly what happened to me the first time I tried to find it.

The apartment itself is way more spacious than you’d expect from the photos. I mean, it’s called a “Klostersuite” for a reason – there’s something almost monastery-like about how calm and uncluttered everything feels, but in a really good way. The windows face onto Klostergasse, so you get these lovely morning glimpses of locals heading to work and the occasional delivery truck rumbling over the cobblestones (fair warning – if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs, though it quiets down completely after 9 PM). What I really loved was how they’ve kept some of the building’s original character – thick walls, high ceilings, that sort of thing – while making everything feel completely modern where it counts. The kitchen actually works properly, the shower has decent pressure, and there’s reliable WiFi throughout.

Location-wise, you’re basically in the heart of Mitte without being right on top of the touristy chaos. The Thomaskirche is maybe a seven-minute walk, and you can easily stroll to the Market Square or wander down toward the university quarter. There’s this little bakery – Bäckerei Schmidt – literally around the corner on Universitätsstraße that does incredible pretzels if you’re into that morning ritual thing. Parking can be a bit tricky since it’s old-town Leipzig, but there’s usually street parking within a block or two if you’re patient about it. The 9.1 rating honestly makes sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not flashy or trying too hard, but everything just works the way it should. The check-in process was refreshingly straightforward (they actually answer their phone), and the place was spotless without that sterile hotel feeling. I’d definitely go back, especially if I was planning to spend time exploring Leipzig properly rather than just passing through.

  Die Lage ist der Wahnsinn. Hoch-praktisch für eine CityTour, mehr mittendrin geht nicht. Das Parkhaus gleich nebenan rundet die Lage nochmal nach oben ab.

  The apartment was in a excellent position in the centre of Leipzig . The furnishings were beautiful and every wax very clean and well cared for. The hosts were excellent offering great communication
  
  What could be improved: We liked everything and would definately return and highly recommend.
  There were quite afew flights of stairs to get to the apartment which wasn’t a problem for us but might be a problem for others as there is no lift.
  With it being a central location it was quite noisy at night but again this was not a problem for us and when the windows were closed the noise was reduced greatly.
  The towels were the only ‘slight’ criticism as we like fluffy towels whereas the towels provided were rather crisp and discoloured

  The location in the centre of Leipzig was outstanding (despite loud crowds from Euro 2024), the fit out was gorgeous, the historic building it was in was lovely. Everything was great.
  
  What could be improved: This didn’t matter too much to us but the apartment is on the 3rd floor of a building without a lift. Could be difficult for people with mobility issues and heavy luggage.
