So here’s the thing about SJ Appartments II – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first pulled up to 94 Eisenbahnstraße, I’ll be honest, the building looked pretty standard from the outside. Nothing flashy, just a solid Leipzig apartment block in Volkmarsdorf. But once you’re up on the third floor (there’s a lift, thank god), you realize this place has something going for it that a lot of three-star spots don’t – actual personality.

The apartments themselves are surprisingly spacious, and I mean genuinely roomy, not just “European roomy.” You know what really got me though? The attention to detail. Everything feels like someone actually lives here sometimes, not like it was decorated by a committee in 2003 and never touched again. The kitchen setup is honestly better than what I have at home – proper appliances, decent counter space, and they’ve actually thought about where you’d want to put your coffee maker. The beds are comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with the mattress all night, which honestly happens more often than it should in this price range. Street noise isn’t really an issue either, even though you’re right there on Eisenbahnstraße – the windows do their job well.

What really makes this place work is the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. Volkmarsdorf has this cool thing happening where it’s still got that authentic Leipzig neighborhood feel, but you’re not stuck out in the middle of nowhere. You can walk to some genuinely good local spots that tourists don’t usually find – there’s this bakery about two blocks down that does incredible Stollen, and the whole area has that lived-in vibe where people actually go about their daily lives instead of everything being geared toward visitors. Getting into the city center is dead easy too; the tram connections are solid and you’re looking at maybe fifteen minutes to get to the main action around Markt or the Gewandhaus. Parking was way less of a headache than I expected, which if you’ve ever driven in Leipzig, you know that’s saying something. The whole experience just felt… well, it felt like staying somewhere real, if that makes sense. For what you’re paying and what you get, especially with that 8-point rating backing it up, it’s the kind of place you’d actually recommend to people without any weird caveats or apologies.

  The owner was sooo kind, waiting for us at our arrival for the keys, he provided us eveything we needed for the kitchen. The apartment is big and clean. It is very well connected to the city center, 10 minutes by public transport. The area where the flat is located is very alive, multicultural, with shops, cool bars and nice atmosphere.

  Die Ferienwohnung war perfekt! Sauber, modern und ideal gelegen – ruhig, aber nahe an allem Wichtigen. Besonders bequemes Bett und eine super Ausstattung. Der Gastgeber war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Absolute Empfehlung, wir kommen gerne wieder!
