Premier Inn Leipzig City Oper Overview

You know what struck me first about the Premier Inn Leipzig City Oper? It’s actually in one of those perfect spots where you feel like you’re staying in the real Leipzig, not some touristy bubble. Walking down Goethestraße, you’re literally steps from the opera house (hence the name), but honestly, I was more excited about being so close to the old town’s winding streets and that incredible Sunday market at the Marktplatz.

The hotel itself is pretty much what you’d expect from Premier Inn – clean, no-nonsense, with those signature purple touches that somehow work better in a historic German city than you’d think. I mean, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble lobbies, but the rooms are genuinely comfortable and surprisingly quiet considering you’re right in Mitte. The staff actually seemed to know Leipzig well, which is rarer than it should be – when I asked about getting to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a tourist map but told me which tram stop gets you closest without the uphill walk.

What I really appreciated was how walkable everything felt from here. The Gewandhaus is practically around the corner, and you can wander over to Nikolaikirche (where those famous peaceful protests started in ’89) in maybe ten minutes. There’s this great little area near Barfußgässchen where locals actually hang out – not the sanitized restaurant strips you find in some German cities – and it’s an easy evening stroll from the hotel. Parking was straightforward too, which honestly surprised me for city center Leipzig. The breakfast was solid Premier Inn standard – nothing fancy, but the coffee was actually decent and they had proper German bread alongside the usual continental stuff. I’d say if you’re looking for something central without paying those boutique hotel prices, and you want to feel like you’re staying somewhere with actual character rather than a business district, this spot really delivers. Plus, that 8.6 rating isn’t just inflated booking site nonsense – it feels earned.

Everything was better than I was expecting. Brand new building, everything super clean and tidy, a 5 stars for the bar that was very good with a nice space and well decorated. A special thanks to the receptionist that was very welcoming, kind and even trying speaking Portuguese with me what made me feel very welcoming.

  • Exceptional – Sea_change from Australia – 11 July 2025 (10/10)

Everything. All staff were welcoming and friendly. Great quiet room 107. Breakfast was brilliant.

  • Perfect stay, more than enough selection at the breakfast buffet and clean, comfortable amenities. Great value for money – Emma from Czech Republic – 9 July 2025 (9/10)

Room was perfectly clean and equiped with almost everything you may need. Linens were super fresh and bathroom squeaky clean. The stay was very comfortable. Staff were helpful, even answered specific inquiries and spoke great english! The biggest highlight was the breakfast. So many dishes served, a great selection of tea and coffee, alternative milk options… everything about the breakfast was super great! Thank you.

What could be improved: The location is very busy which we obviously expected. Trams were very noisy on the street, however we found that the windows at this hotel are great at noise cancelling everything from the street. So once we closed them all down for the night, it was super quiet! The other thing I didn’t like was the parking arrangement, the entrance to the hotel’s underground parking lot is extremely narrow. Therefore we opted for an alternative at the Q-park on the Opera square for the same price point.

  • Exceptional – Jeannie from South Africa – 4 July 2025 (10/10)

    Great breakfast and location!

  • Hotel must have free parking for the guest. – Blog from Denmark – 4 July 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Hotel must have free parking for the guest.
