Philippus Inklusionshotel Leipzig Overview

You know what struck me first about the Philippus Inklusionshotel? It’s not trying to be something it isn’t. Tucked away on Aurelienstraße in Alt-West, this 3-star place has this refreshingly honest vibe that I honestly wasn’t expecting. The whole concept revolves around inclusion – they employ people with disabilities alongside everyone else, and it creates this genuinely warm atmosphere that feels… well, real. Not performative, just natural. The staff actually seems to enjoy working there, which is rarer than you’d think in hotels these days.

The location is pretty clever if you know Leipzig at all. Alt-West isn’t the tourist center, but that’s actually a good thing – you’re in a proper neighborhood where people live and work, not some sanitized hotel district. There’s a decent bakery about two blocks down that the locals hit up for morning coffee (way better than hotel breakfast coffee, trust me), and you can walk to the city center in maybe 20 minutes if you don’t mind the stroll. The tram connections are solid too, though I ended up walking most places because Leipzig’s just that kind of walkable city. Parking was surprisingly painless – they’ve got their own spots, which in German cities is basically gold.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve nailed the basics without any fuss. The rooms aren’t Instagram-worthy or anything, but everything works properly – the shower has actual water pressure, the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the beds are legitimately comfortable. I mean, it sounds simple, but you’d be amazed how many places mess this up. The breakfast spread is pretty solid too, with proper German bread (not that fluffy stuff) and local honey. Honestly, the whole operation runs smoother than some 4-star places I’ve stayed at. The 9.2 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s not about luxury, it’s about competence and genuine hospitality. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that’s actually part of its community instead of just dropped into it. If you’re the type who’d rather stay somewhere with character than a cookie-cutter chain, this place gets it right.

Leipzig’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of Saxon tradition and modern comfort, with many featuring classical music concierge services and traditional German hospitality.

  • Lovely place – Anna from Netherlands – 9 July 2025 (9/10)

We were on a cycling tour through Germany. Leipzig is a lovely city and many things to do. Breakfast was great, good cappuccino. Lovely room, excellent beds. Lady of the staff made the effort to book a last-minute appointment for me at her hairdresser. That was very much appreciated. Thai 'restaurant' nearby with fantastic food (closes at 19.00).
