Motel One Leipzig-Post Overview

Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of budget hotels across Germany, and Motel One Leipzig-Post honestly surprised me in the best way possible. When you first walk up to Grimmaischer Steinweg 1, you’re literally in the heart of everything – I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and be at the Marktplatz in about three minutes. The building itself has this sleek, modern vibe that feels way more upscale than what you’d expect from a 3-star place, and the lobby actually made me double-check my booking because it looked like somewhere I definitely couldn’t afford.

The rooms are compact but clever – like, really clever. Everything has its place, and somehow they’ve managed to make you not feel cramped even though you’re working with limited space. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff), and here’s something I really appreciated: the shower had proper water pressure, which honestly can be hit or miss in German hotels. You know what struck me most though? How quiet it was at night, considering you’re smack in the middle of Mitte. I was worried about street noise, but their windows must be decent quality because I slept like a baby even on Friday night when the bars were busy. The Wi-Fi actually worked well too – I had video calls without any issues, which is more than I can say for some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed.

What really sells this place for me is the location knowledge you get just by staying here. The front desk folks know their stuff – they pointed me toward this little bakery on Barfußgässchen that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to check out the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, they told me exactly which tram to catch and even warned me it’d be pretty windy up there (they were right). You’re also walking distance from Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, which sounds boring but is actually this amazing shopping center built inside a historic train station – perfect for grabbing supplies or killing time before a late train. The price point feels fair for what you get, especially considering you could spend twice as much staying somewhere with less personality just a few blocks away. I mean, it’s not luxury, but it’s smart, clean, and genuinely well-thought-out in a way that makes your stay smoother than you’d expect.

Leipzig’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with kitchen facilities, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant German city.

  • Exceptional – Helen from United Kingdom – 25 July 2025 (10/10)

Good location for city. Clean comfortable room. Well thought out room design. Good lighting professional hairdryer near a mirror and adequate plugs. Good parking facilities. Great bar at top of hotel with balcony and variety of comfy seats. All staff friendly and very helpful.

  • Superb – Jovana from Serbia – 24 June 2025 (9/10)

The staff were very welcoming and always available to help with anything I needed. They truly made me feel at home. The room was fully equipped and very modern. The Wi-Fi was excellent and easy to connect to, no instructions needed. I loved the fish display on the TV that appeared when inserting the key card, it was very calming. The hotel is literally next to many landmarks worth seeing, as well as Grimmaische Strasse, perfect for walking around.

What could be improved: The accommodation was nice and comfortable, and while it looked clean at first glance, it didn’t feel very fresh. With a bit more attention to that, the stay would have been perfect. Overall, a pleasant experience and I would still recommend it.
