Motel One Leipzig-Augustusplatz Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Motel One Leipzig-Augustusplatz on Ritterstraße, you immediately get why this place has such a devoted following. I mean, the location alone — you’re literally steps from Augustusplatz, which is basically the beating heart of Leipzig. This three-star hotel doesn’t try to be something it’s not, but honestly, it nails exactly what it sets out to do. The modern facade fits right into the neighborhood without being flashy, and there’s something refreshing about a place that focuses on getting the fundamentals absolutely right.
The Heart of Leipzig
You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You can walk to pretty much everything that matters in Leipzig. The opera house is right there, the university is a short stroll, and the old town spreads out around you like you’re at the center of it all. I’ve noticed couples especially love this spot — apparently they rate the location 9.7 out of 10, which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all. The trams stop right nearby, so even if you want to venture further out, you’re connected to the whole city. It’s one of those locations where you actually feel like you’re living in Leipzig rather than just visiting it.
Smart Design, Comfortable Stays
The room design here is what I’d call “cleverly minimal” — everything you need, nothing you don’t. The beds are genuinely comfortable (I’m picky about this), and they’ve thought through the little things like decent lighting for reading and enough outlets for all your devices. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, with good water pressure that actually stays consistent. What strikes me most is how they’ve managed to make relatively small spaces feel open and uncluttered. It’s the kind of place where you settle in quickly and sleep well.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast buffet deserves a mention — it’s not trying to be fancy, but the quality is solid and there’s enough variety to keep you happy whether you’re rushing off to meetings or planning a leisurely day exploring. Fresh bread, decent coffee, and they usually have some local touches that remind you you’re in Saxony. I appreciate that they keep it stocked well throughout the morning hours, so even if you’re not an early riser, you’re not stuck with picked-over leftovers.
Why Guests Keep Coming Back
There’s something telling about the fact that this place has more repeat guests than most other properties — people clearly figure out that sometimes the best travel experiences come from places that just work really well. The staff seems to recognize returning faces, the location never gets old, and you know exactly what you’re getting each time. For the price point, you’re getting remarkable value in a city center location that would cost significantly more at a traditional hotel. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel smart for choosing it, especially when you’re walking to dinner while other travelers are figuring out public transport from their distant hotels.
Leipzig’s apartments offer spacious accommodations with kitchen facilities, perfect for families wanting to experience daily life in this historically significant German city.

Wonderful! – Sarah from United Kingdom – 23 July 2025 (10/10)
The staff were friendly and amiable. I have a gluten free diet and this was accommodated at breakfast time. I also needed to use the hotel fridge on one occasion and staff enabled me to do this with ease. The bar staff were also very friendly and amiable.
