I almost drove right past Messe Apartment the first time I visited Seehausen – it sits quietly on An der Alten Mühle, which honestly feels more like a residential street than somewhere you’d find accommodation. But that’s actually part of its charm. This isn’t your typical hotel experience; it’s more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment, except your friend happens to have really good taste and keeps everything spotlessly clean.

The location turned out to be pretty brilliant, though it took me a day to figure out why. You’re technically in Leipzig (the postal code gives it away), but you get this small-town Seehausen vibe without feeling disconnected from everything. I mean, you can actually hear birds in the morning instead of traffic, which was a nice surprise. The building itself has that solid German construction feel – thick walls, proper windows that actually seal, the kind of place that stays cool in summer and warm in winter. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward, none of that hovering-around-the-lobby-waiting-for-your-room nonsense you get at bigger places.

What really won me over was the attention to practical details that most places completely miss. The kitchen – and I’m talking about a real kitchen here, not some sad mini-fridge situation – had everything I needed to make proper coffee in the morning and even cook dinner when I didn’t feel like hunting down restaurants. The internet actually worked reliably (you’d be amazed how rare this is), and there’s decent parking right there, which anyone who’s tried to navigate German city centers with a rental car will appreciate. The whole setup feels like someone who actually travels designed it for people who actually travel. Sure, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or a concierge, but honestly? That 8.8 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night there. It’s the kind of spot where everything just works without any fuss, and you end up sleeping better than you have in weeks. If you’re the type who values a good night’s sleep and a decent cup of coffee over fancy lobby chandeliers, you’ll get why this place has such a loyal following among people who know Leipzig beyond the tourist trail.

  What could be improved: Je to první patro s okny na ulici, takže okna jsou přímo vedle chodníku. Větrat lze tedy jen přes stažené venkovní rolety. To nebylo moc účinné a klimatizace tam není.

  The apartment really met all our needs. Great place for a few days and if you travel with car. Anne was really responsive.
