MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Hauptbahnhof Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to MEININGER Hotel Leipzig Hauptbahnhof, you immediately get that “this is going to work out just fine” feeling. It’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just solid, reliable, and honestly pretty smart about what travelers actually need. The building sits right on Brühl, and I mean, you can practically roll out of bed and catch your train, which is exactly why most people end up here in the first place.
Location That Actually Matters
Here’s the thing about staying near Leipzig’s Hauptbahnhof — you’re not just getting train access (though that 9.4 location score isn’t lying). You’re actually in the thick of things in Leipzig‘s Mitte district, where the city’s energy really lives. I’ve walked from here to the old town market square in about ten minutes, and there’s something satisfying about being able to explore on foot without constantly checking maps on your phone. Couples seem to get this especially well — apparently they rate the location 9.3 for romantic trips, and honestly, I can see why when you’re strolling through those historic streets together.
The Room Experience
The room setup here is refreshingly straightforward — clean lines, decent beds, and everything you need without the fluff you don’t. MEININGER has this whole modern hostel-meets-hotel vibe going on, which sounds weird but actually works really well. You get proper privacy and comfort, but there’s still that social, traveler-friendly atmosphere in the common areas. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and honestly, after a day of wandering around Leipzig, you just want a good shower and a comfortable bed — both of which this place delivers without drama.
Morning Fuel
Breakfast here is one of those continental buffet situations that could go either way, but they’ve actually done it right. There’s enough variety to keep you happy — proper coffee, fresh bread, the usual suspects like eggs and cold cuts, plus some local touches that remind you you’re in Germany. I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but it’ll definitely fuel you up for whatever Leipzig adventure you’ve got planned. The breakfast room gets busy around 8 AM, so if you’re an early riser, you’ll have the pick of everything.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is how it nails the basics while keeping things interesting. You’re getting that prime location without paying prime prices, and the whole operation just feels well-thought-out. The staff actually knows the neighborhood and can point you toward good local spots, which is rarer than it should be these days. Whether you’re here for business, passing through on a longer trip, or just exploring Leipzig for a weekend, this hotel gets out of your way and lets you focus on why you came to the city in the first place — and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

Very clean. Last minute check in with prompt service. Very close to old city center
What could be improved: A lot of students staying at this place – noise outside my window until after midnight. Rather annoying.Superb – Claire from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (9/10)
This hotel is incredibly clean, comfortable, and convenient. The guest kitchen is wonderful to have and the location is right round the corner from the opera house.
What could be improved: My one tiny gripe was that the fan in the room made a really loud rattling noise which meant I had to open the window and deal with the noise of the people on the street outside.Smooth stopover and convenient – Brian from United States – 19 May 2025 (9/10)
Convenient

A friendly hotel, very well located – Anid from Czech Republic – 22 April 2025 (9/10)
The hotel is very well located, not far from the centre and, especially, if you visit the Gewandhaus or the Opera, you will appreciate how close it is.
I enjoyed the approach of the hotel about every day cleaning of your room – you can say what you need or expect.
I love the idea of a guest kitchen 24/7!
The staff is professional, friendly and easy going, always helpful and also positive!Very good for a single night – Matthew from Germany – 15 April 2025 (7/10)
Bed was a little uncomfortable. Everything else was great. Location is perfect.

Good location .
What could be improved: double bed was a combination of two single beds not very comfortable .short and good stay – Didier from Israel – 10 March 2025 (8/10)
the location is perfect: very close to the central train station but quiet. The Pedestrian street is just a few meters away, close to the some of the city's main attractions: the Saint Thomas Church, Leipzig Museum of Fine Arts, Leipzig's Zoo
The room is very clean. the breakfast was sufficient, not the greatest selection but really enough and fresh.
staff representatives are very nice, friendly and helpful.
I was just there for one night and had a short but good stay at the Leipzig Meininger hotel.
