Luga Homes – Zoo Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Luga Homes – Zoo? The name makes it sound like some quirky themed place with animal prints everywhere, but it’s actually this sleek, modern apartment-style setup right in the heart of Leipzig’s Mitte district. I mean, the zoo connection is real – Leipzig Zoo is literally a ten-minute walk away – but the vibe inside is more “stylish urban retreat” than “safari lodge.”
The location on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße is honestly pretty brilliant if you’re trying to balance that “I’m staying in the real Leipzig” feeling with actually being able to walk to everything that matters. You’re close enough to the Hauptbahnhof that dragging luggage isn’t a nightmare, but far enough into Mitte that you feel like you’re staying where locals actually live and work. The tram connections are solid too – I found myself hopping on the 4 or 7 line without thinking twice. There’s this great little bakery about two blocks down that opens ridiculously early, which saved me more than once when I had morning meetings.
What I really appreciated was how the place handles that tricky middle ground between hotel service and apartment independence. The units themselves feel properly lived-in rather than sterile – good kitchen setups if you want to grab groceries from the Rewe nearby, but housekeeping that actually knows what they’re doing. The WiFi didn’t cut out during video calls (always my test), and honestly, the beds were better than I expected for a 4-star place. Street noise is pretty minimal, though if you’re someone who gets bothered by early morning delivery trucks, maybe pack earplugs – it’s still a working neighborhood. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward “here’s seventeen different key cards and a map you’ll immediately lose” routine. The 8.2 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Leipzig, but it gets the important stuff right and doesn’t charge you extra for the privilege of staying somewhere that actually feels connected to the city.

The most amazing apartment! Very spacious, clean, warm and in a great location, close to the city centre and the train station. The host was also very responsive; if I am ever in Leipzig again, I will look no further
What could be improved: nothingWe loved the enormous room and the great location. – Anna from United Kingdom – 3 January 2025 (10/10)
The place was very spacious and super handy for central Leipzig and the amazing Leipzig Zoo. It’s also a walking distance to the railway station. Great tram connections to any further locations to visit.
It was pretty quiet despite central location. Choice of coffee makers.
What could be improved: The main lights which were automatically switching off every hour were slightly annoying.
There is no on street parking nearby – the car park at the train station is in a walking distance though and fairly cheap.Nice – Mihai from Romania – 18 October 2024 (8/10)
Clse to center, parking in the background, bed was nice, comfortable.
What could be improved: The toilet was not well cleanComfortable, peacefully, and useful – Dragana from Serbia – 3 September 2024 (9/10)

A good place but a few little things could have made it much better! – Gloria from United States – 19 September 2023 (8/10)
We’ll equipped with nice kitchen & washer.
What could be improved: Lack of a good internet connection. Very slow or non-existent!Comfortable, clean and has everything you need for a short trip with the family. – Johanna from Germany – 18 July 2023 (9/10)
It was well located in the city with an easy walk to the downtown. The appointment has everything you need including coffee of three different sorts, salt/ pepper, shampoo, paper towels, etc! It was very nice not to have to buy these things. They also have a Netflix account that guests can use! Which made for a nice movie night. All in all a great experience in Leipzig.
What could be improved: There were several things that were not well thought out. For example the kitchen setting makes it very uncomfortable to clean or use the sink. Some shutters are not installed in the bedroom/ living room so you get a lot of sun early in the morningCentral moder. and clean place – Marcos from Germany – 18 June 2023 (8/10)
Really clean and modern. perfect location. The self check-in worked perfectly
What could be improved: the bed not that comfortable so weren’t the pillows. The apartment is located in the backyard ans sometimes people talking in their balconies might get loud and annoying.
