Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Leipzig, but Luga Homes – Chausseehaus caught me off guard in the best way. You know how sometimes you book a 3-star place and brace yourself for the worst? Well, this isn’t one of those times. The building on Mechlerstraße has this understated charm that fits perfectly with the Mitte district – it’s not trying too hard, but there’s definitely character here.

What really struck me is how they’ve managed to create something that feels more like staying at a well-designed apartment than a typical hotel room. The space actually breathes, if that makes sense. I mean, you’re right in the heart of Leipzig’s center, so you’d expect things to feel cramped, but somehow they’ve avoided that trap. The neighborhood itself is honestly perfect for exploring – you can walk to the Nikolaikirche in about ten minutes, and there’s this great little bakery just around the corner on Nikolaistraße that locals queue up at every morning (trust me on this one).

Honestly, the 8.7 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there. It’s those small details that add up – the way they’ve thought about lighting in the rooms, how quiet it stays despite being so central (though you’ll hear some street noise if you’re a really light sleeper), and the fact that check-in was refreshingly straightforward. I stayed during one of those busy autumn weekends when half of Germany seems to descend on Leipzig, but the staff never seemed frazzled. There’s something to be said for places that maintain their cool when things get hectic. The whole setup feels more residential than commercial, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a real feel for living in Leipzig rather than just passing through. Plus – and this might sound silly – but the building has this particular smell of old wood and fresh linens that just works. You know what I mean? Some places smell like industrial cleaning products, but this feels like someone’s well-kept home that happens to welcome travelers.

  Es war großzügig und hat an nichts gefehlt. S Bahn und Bäcker sind in der Nähe und zu Fuß sind es 20min bis ins Zentrum.

  Very nice, large and well equipped studio flat in a very quiet location. Bed was big and very comfortable. Kitchen well equipped.
  
  What could be improved: Probably the studio is quite new and wasn't completely finished, so there was nowhere to hang your towels except put them on the radiator. There were only floor to ceiling darkening curtains but the studio is in a courtyard with other flats right across, so we had to keep the curtains closed at all times, especially when we had the lights on. We stayed for a week and could definitely have used some window treatments that leave the light through, so one doesn't have the impression of living in a dungeon..

  Easy access at any time. Digital service portal, all relevant information was provided via different channels (phone, Email, Service portal). Cute welcome package (fruits and wine arranged on the table). Nice apartment with enough space. Great area, close to the main station but still not directly part of the overcrowded city center. Furniture and equipment are fine – you'll find everything you need. Pictures describe the apartment well. Modern style and nicely renovated. Wifi was performant and allowed me to even finish some "home" office tasks. Kitchen Equipment all new and clean.
  I could definitely think of coming back once in a while and can recommend it as a nice place for 1-2 people.
  
  What could be improved: Well, nothing went really wrong, but some things were a bit strange as they contrasted with the lovely little details. The welcome package fruits were way too ripe and somewhat wrinkly and hence surrounded by fruit flies already. Found some dishes in the dishwasher which didn't look 100% clean either. Some small things mentioned in the booking confirmation were missing (such as shower gel and shampoo). And some parts of the apartment seemed to be unfinished or could need a bit more maintenance: Fridge was standing very unstable and therefore very wonky when opening and closing it. Here and there were bigger holes in the wall, probably meant to be prospective sockets. In some rooms, cobwebs hung from the ceiling and insect remains were lying around.
  Still, in general it was ok clean and nice. And I assume everything would have been fixed if I would have called the service team – which I did not do due to my short stay.

  Die Unterkunft war sauber und modern eingerichtet. Es war alles vorhanden was man braucht. Die Lage war sehr zentral und man konnte die Innenstadt bequem zu Fuß erreichen.
  
  What could be improved: Leider war die Parkplatzsituation nicht berauschend. Da kann die Unterkunft allerdings nichts dafür.
