I was expecting just another fancy apartment rental, but honestly, the Leipzig Residenz Goethe feels more like staying in someone’s incredibly well-appointed city retreat. The location on Am Mückenschlößchen is perfect – I mean, you’re literally in Mitte, which is the heartbeat of Leipzig, but tucked away on this quiet street that most tourists never stumble across. The first time I walked up, I actually wondered if I had the right address because it’s so understated from the outside.

But then you get inside and – wow. The two rooftop terraces are absolutely the star of the show here. I spent most mornings up there with coffee, looking out over Leipzig’s mix of restored baroque buildings and those stark GDR-era blocks that somehow work together. The larger terrace faces west, so evenings are pretty magical when the light hits the church spires. The apartment itself has this interesting mix of period details and modern comfort – the kind of place where you’ll find original hardwood floors alongside a kitchen that actually has everything you need (not just the bare minimum like most rentals). The bedroom stays surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the city center, though you’ll hear the occasional late-night reveler on weekends – but that’s Leipzig for you.

What really sold me on this place is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re maybe a five-minute walk from the Nikolaikirche, where those famous Monday demonstrations started back in ’89 – there’s something pretty moving about staying so close to that history. The Mädler Passage with Auerbachs Keller is basically around the corner, and if you’re into the local coffee scene, you’ll find some excellent spots along Gottschedstraße. Parking can be tricky in Mitte (honestly, just use public transport), but the host actually provided really detailed instructions that saved me from circling the block endlessly. The 9.8 rating makes total sense once you experience how thoughtfully everything’s been arranged – from the way the evening light filters through those big windows to having actual good towels, not the scratchy ones you get in most places. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay if you can, just because it feels so much like having your own little piece of Leipzig rather than just passing through.

  Schnelle, nette und unkomplizierte Kommunikation. Die beiden Dachterassen, das unkomplizierte Check In Prozedere. Das unserer Bedürfnisse mit Rollstuhl verstanden und wurden und die Wohnung für unsere spezifischen Bedürfnisse geeignet war. Es hatte alles, was wir gebraucht haben (und mehr) – Lage war auch super!

  Wir waren als "Ehemalige Leipziger" mal wieder für einen Kurztrip in Leipzig und sind positiv überrascht gewesen von dem tollen Apartment. Wir haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist sehr geräumig und modern. Es war sehr sauber. Es war viel zu kurz. Aber wir kommen gerne wieder und können die Wohnung nur empfehlen.
  Die Beschreibungen sind alle zutreffend. Die Nähe zur Innenstadt, aber auch zur Natur (Rosenthal) ist super.
  Im Sommer kann man diese Lage auch noch viel besser auskosten.

  Schöne, hell eingerichtete Wohnung. Alles vorhanden was man zum täglichen Bedarf benötigt. Auf den Dachterassen kann man den Tag super beginnen bzw. ausklingen lassen. Die Wohnung liegt ruhig in einer Wohngegend und in 3 Minuten ist die nächste S-Bahnstation, so dass man innerhalb kürzester Zeit im Zentrum das Stadtleben genießen kann.
  Einfach empfehlenswert.
