The rooms are what you’d expect from Marriott – reliable, comfortable, with those little touches that work (decent shower pressure, outlets where you need them, blackout curtains that actually block light). I stayed on the seventh floor and honestly, the view over Leipzig’s mix of church spires and modern rooftops is pretty captivating, especially early morning when the light hits everything just right.

What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re close enough to walk to the Marktplatz – maybe ten minutes if you don’t get distracted by the shops along the way – but you’re not stuck in the tourist bubble. There’s this authentic Leipzig rhythm around here, with locals heading to work, students from the university cutting through, and that constant low hum of a city that’s actually living and breathing rather than just performing for visitors. The parking situation is better than most city center hotels (there’s an underground garage), and honestly, the soundproofing is solid – important when you’re this central. I did notice the elevators can get busy during conference season, but that’s a minor thing. The breakfast spread is generous without being overwhelming, and they actually have decent coffee, which – let’s be real – isn’t always a given. If you’re looking for a solid base to explore Leipzig properly, somewhere that feels connected to the actual city rather than floating above it, this Marriott delivers exactly that.

  What could be improved: We didnt realise the room had room service because information about the room (and room service) was hidden on a small pyramid 'thing' hidden away at the back of the desk in the room, that we didnt spot until last day, when we checked with reception. Apparently you had to use the PDF code on the pyramid to access room details. We’re very IT literate but think this is poor customer service that assumes customers have a cell phone with them.

  The breakfast is excellent. Time for the breakfast is excellent too. I love the breakfast and the service is perfect.
  The room is very clean. They will clean the room no matter what time you leave the room.
  The location is excellent for touring around the town centre.
  On one morning, the water was shut down because there was an issue in the lobby. I missed my breakfast because I couldn't take a shower to go out. About 11:15am the water was back on. I met the General Manager in the lobby and talked about me missing the breakfast. He immediately offered me a free lunch at the Sport Bar. I was so impressed and satisfied with their service and generosity.

  Leipzig is amazing! I now understand why it's referred to as "the Little Berlin." There's loads of history to explore, several great museums, and the historic town center is so very walkable! The transit system definitely rivals Berlin and is so easy to use … especially if you use the Fairtiq app. And by all means, don't miss the Bayerischer Bahnhof brewery/restaurant on the southern edge of a town!
