Jahrhunderthotel Leipzig Overview
You know what? When I first pulled up to the Jahrhunderthotel Leipzig on Prager Straße, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place – but honestly, this spot surprised me in the best way. The building itself has this understated charm that fits perfectly with Leipzig’s mix of old and new, and you can tell they’ve put thought into keeping things updated without losing character.
The location is actually brilliant if you know Leipzig at all. Prager Straße might not sound glamorous, but you’re basically in this sweet spot where you can walk to the Südvorstadt district in about ten minutes – that’s where all the good cafés and local bars are that tourists usually miss. The tram connections are right there too, which means getting to the city center or the main train station is ridiculously easy. I mean, Leipzig isn’t huge anyway, but having that direct access makes a difference when you’re juggling luggage or coming back late from dinner. The street itself can get a bit busy during rush hour (it’s a main thoroughfare), but the hotel’s set back enough that it didn’t bother me at night.
What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to care – not in that overly rehearsed way, but genuinely helpful. Check-in was smooth, and when I mentioned I was trying to find a good spot for traditional Saxon food, the desk clerk gave me this detailed rundown of places that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. The rooms are exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, comfortable beds, decent shower pressure, and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. Nothing fancy, but everything works properly, which honestly matters more than marble countertops when you’re actually living in the space. The breakfast spread was better than I anticipated too – proper German bread, local meats and cheeses, plus they had decent coffee (not always a given at this price point). There’s parking available, which is clutch in Leipzig since the city center can be tricky with a car, and the rates are reasonable for what you get. The whole place just feels… reliable, I guess? Like they’ve figured out how to do hospitality well without trying to be something they’re not. That 8.3 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place where everything meets expectations and then adds a few pleasant surprises on top.

This was a comfortable and stylish hotel , mixing old world ambience with modern convenience. The staff were very helpful and we liked the reasonably priced honesty bar.
What could be improved: For the price in a good location, there was not much to dislike.Enjoyable night with room upgrade in Leipzig – Susan from Germany – 9 June 2024 (9/10)
We enjoyed our night in the Jahrhunderthotel. It was easy to get there from the Leipzig train station and we were cordially welcomed. We received an upgrade to an "apartment", meaning a large room with a kitchen area and even a balcony. It was very nice as well as quiet, since it was at the back of the building. The breakfast was fine, and we appreciated that it was served until 11:00.
What could be improved: Although I appreciated the upgrade, it did mean that we were less exposed to the old-fashioned flair of the hotel, since our room was significantly more modern than the ones I had seen on the website. We would also have liked to have more fresh fruit at breakfast, especially since it is now the season for berries and other fruits. But these are only minor issues. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.Unique Leipzig Hotel – Richard from United States – 9 May 2024 (9/10)
This is a historic and interesting property outside the city center but with excellent tram and train service. Our room was comfortable and the breakfast was outstanding.

A very cozy hotel in a historical building with very pleasant interiors. Very friendly staff. Very nice furniture.
Close to S-Bahn station. There is a large pleasant park nearby.
What could be improved: There is no drinking water in the hotel, not at all. For water I had to go to a restaurant on Erdgeschoss.Very pleasant stay – Jennifer from United Kingdom – 25 April 2023 (8/10)
Traditional and tasteful decor, clean and comfortable, excellent breakfast. The lady on duty in the morning was really friendly and helpful.
What could be improved: Arriving at check-in time (2 pm) reception staff were only available on the phone (although very helpful) which makes the arrival and registration a little awkward.Superb – Fiona from Belgium – 11 April 2023 (9/10)
