Walking up Gottschedstraße – and honestly, good luck pronouncing that if you’re not German – you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking. The exterior doesn’t scream “hey, fancy hotel here!” which I actually kind of love. It’s like Leipzig itself in that way, sort of quietly impressive without being showy about it.

The location is what really makes this place work though. I mean, you’re literally in Mitte, which sounds fancy but really just means you can stumble to the Gewandhaus for a concert or wander over to the old town square without needing a taxi or figuring out the tram system (though Leipzig’s trams are pretty decent, just saying). The breakfast room overlooks this little stretch of the neighborhood that feels authentically local – you’ll see actual Leipzigers heading to work, not just tourists with cameras. Speaking of breakfast, they do this thing where they mix international stuff with proper German options, so you can have your expected eggs and bacon or go full local with different breads and cold cuts that are honestly better than what you’ll find at most places.

What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re right in the city center. The rooms have this modern minimalist thing going on – clean lines, lots of white, but not in that sterile way that makes you feel like you’re sleeping in a laboratory. The beds are genuinely comfortable, and the shower pressure is strong enough to actually wake you up in the morning. Little things matter when you’re traveling, you know? Like how the WiFi actually works (revolutionary concept, I know), and how the staff seems to know the difference between being helpful and being hovering. They’ll point you toward Auerbachs Keller if you ask about dinner, but they won’t act offended if you want to find your own place instead.

The whole experience feels designed for people who travel for real reasons, not just Instagram shots. Sure, it looks good – that 8.7 rating isn’t accidental – but it’s more about function than flash. You’re not paying extra for a rooftop pool you’ll never use or a spa that’s always booked. Instead, you get reliable comfort in a spot where you can actually experience Leipzig rather than just staying near it. And honestly, in a city that’s still sort of discovering itself as a destination, that feels exactly right.

• Great hotel in central Leipzig with a spacious room, rooftop terrace, and convenient on-site parking – Marija from Croatia – 2 August 2025 (10/10)

  Excellent hotel in the center of Leipzig with a large, clean room. Exceptional soundproofing (our room was just below the rooftop terrace, but we couldn't hear a thing). Beautiful rooftop terrace with a great view of the city. Although it's not possible to reserve a parking spot in advance in the hotel's garage, we had no trouble finding a space as there were always a few spots available.
  
  What could be improved: Parking at the hotel is quite expensive compared to other underground garages in the city, but since we wanted parking within the hotel, especially because of the luggage we had with us, it was acceptable.

  What could be improved: Breakfast was not good, no Green Salate just tomatoes and cucumbers some meat but not big. Any fish wich would be nice to have. Choice was really poor

  Spacious, well equipped rooms, able to open a window. Loved the free soft drinks in the minibar. Kettle and coffee machine – excellent.
