You know what caught me off guard about this place? The name makes it sound like some generic Airbnb setup, but honestly, HOMY gets the retro vibe just right without going overboard with the kitsch. I mean, when you see “stylish retro apartment” in Leipzig, you’re probably expecting either authentic GDR furniture that’s actually falling apart or some Instagram-worthy fake vintage stuff. This hits that sweet spot in between.

The location in Lößnig is actually pretty clever – you’re south of the city center, which means you’re not dealing with the tourist crowds around the Markt or the late-night party noise from the Südvorstadt. Ernst-Toller-Straße itself is quiet (mostly residential), but here’s the thing locals know: you’re literally a ten-minute tram ride from the center, and the S-Bahn connection at Leipzig-Connewitz gets you anywhere fast. Plus, there’s this great little bakery just around the corner on Wiedebachstraße that does proper Leipziger Lerchen – not the tourist trap versions you’ll find in the Altstadt.

The apartment itself feels lived-in but well-maintained, if that makes sense. The Netflix setup actually works reliably (which isn’t always a given with these rental places), and the WiFi held up fine even when I was video calling back home. What I really appreciated were the small touches – decent coffee in the kitchen, extra blankets that don’t smell weird, and blackout curtains that actually block the morning light. The retro aesthetic leans mid-century without being too precious about it; think functional furniture with clean lines rather than a museum display. One tiny gripe: the shower pressure could be stronger, but honestly, after walking around Leipzig all day, you’re just grateful for hot water. Parking can be a bit of a hunt on the street, but there’s usually something within a block or two – just don’t expect to park right outside. The 8.4 rating feels about right; it’s not luxury, but it’s thoughtfully done and way more character than your average hotel chain. If you’re the type who likes staying somewhere that feels like a temporary home rather than a sterile room, and you don’t mind being slightly off the beaten path, this works really well.

  Dobra lokalizacja dla odwiedzających Agra Messepark. 2minuty autem. Blisko do dużego sklepu. W mieszkaniu wszystko to co potrzebne – naczynia, garnki, sztućce i podstawowe produkty jak olej, sól i pieprz, oraz kawa i herbata. Czysto i schludnie. w sam raz dla 4 osób. Okolica spokojna, sąsiedzi również 🙂

  Wir haben diese Ferienwohnung zum Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2025 gemietet. Die Lage war für uns mehr als optimal (2 Haltestellen von Agra Messegelände entfernt). Kommunikation mit Vermietung war unkompliziert. Ausstattung mehr als ausreichend für 6 Tage Festival. Charmanter Leipziger Altbau. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe. Parkmöglichkeiten vor dem Haus bzw in der Straße jederzeit vorhanden. Lustige Beschriftung an der Wohnungstür "Bettzeug, Bettzeug, Bettzeug". 🙂 Die Küche war mit allem ausgestattet, was wir benötigt hatten. Fenster konnten perfekt abgedunkelt werden, wenn es morgens auf dem Festival etwas später/früher wurde und man schlafen wollte. 🙂 Die Betten sind sehr bequem. 🙂

  What could be improved: Badezimmer ist recht klein und eng. Dusche hätte etwas sauberer sein können, hat uns aber nicht gestört. Stange der Duschbrause ist schon älter und wackelig. Diese könnte bei Gelegenheit mal erneuert werden. Absatz vom Flur ins Bad sorgte trotz Markierungen für den einen oder anderen Stolperer. In dem einen Zimmer fehlte das Glas an der Nachttischlampe. Die Zimmertüren der beiden Schlafzimmer stießen immer zusammen, was aber wegen dem Schnitt der Wohnung nicht zu vermeiden ist. Deutliche Preiserhöhung von 2025 auf 2026. 🙁

  Sehr hilfreicher Vermieter, als die Kaffeemaschine defekt war, hat er sofort reagiert. Es war sehr teuer, möglicherweise wegen der Buchmesse.

  Die Lage ist nicht schlecht, Supermarkt und Bäckerei sind Fussläufig schnell zu erreichen. Die Straßenbahn Haltestelle ist nur ein paar Minuten entfernt und mit ihr kann man ganz entspannt ins Zentrum fahren.

  Kontakt mit dem Gastgeber über Nachrichten, Informationen klar und deutlich. Es blieben keine Fragen offen. Ich habe den Schlüssel nach den Anweisungen gut finden können. Ausstattung genau wie beschrieben, Betten komfortabel, WLAN und Netflix funktionierten tadellos. 2. Schlafzimmer Richtung Hinterhof, dort ist es ruhig. Küchenausstattung für 3 Personen völlig ausreichend (auch Töpfe und Pfannen). Keine Filterkaffeemaschine, sondern Automat für Pads (Phillips Senseo). Ein paar Pads waren vorrätig. Parken in der Straße bzw. angrenzender Nebenstraßen problemlos möglich.
  
  What could be improved: Hauptstraße mit Straßenbahn in unmittelbarer Entfernung. Im Schlafzimmer mit dem Doppelbett konnte ich nicht mit offenem Fenster schlafen (bin aber auch sehr geräuschempfindlich).
