HOMY I Altbaucharme Netflix und WLAN sounds like someone just threw together a bunch of German words and streaming services, but honestly – it’s exactly what it promises, and that’s refreshing in a world of overhyped boutique hotels.

The building itself sits on Oststraße, which if you don’t know Leipzig well, is this lovely tree-lined street that feels properly residential but isn’t stuck out in the suburbs. I mean, you’re still in the thick of things – about a fifteen-minute walk to the Hauptbahnhof, and the tram connections are actually solid from here. The apartment (because that’s really what this is) occupies one of those gorgeous pre-war buildings that survived the bombing, and you can feel the history in the thick walls and high ceilings. The Netflix thing isn’t just marketing speak either – they’ve got it properly set up on a decent-sized screen, which honestly saved my evening when I was too tired to venture out for dinner and entertainment.

What I really appreciated was how lived-in everything felt without being worn down, if that makes sense. The WiFi is legitimately fast (I was working remotely for part of my stay), the kitchen has actual spices and condiments left by previous guests, and there’s this comfortable messiness that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than checking boxes on a corporate hospitality checklist. The bathroom’s been updated without losing the old-world charm – good water pressure, which you can’t take for granted in these converted Altbau apartments. Parking was easier than I expected too; there’s street parking that’s not impossible to find, though I’d recommend asking about the resident parking rules because Leipzig’s gotten stricter about that stuff. The check-in process is pretty typical for these smaller places – lots of texting back and forth, electronic locks, that whole dance – but the hosts were responsive and didn’t make me feel like an inconvenience. I stayed during a quiet week in October, so I can’t speak to how it handles the summer festival crowds or holiday rush, but the thick walls kept things peaceful even with the street-facing windows open. For a 3-star rating, this place punches well above its weight – that 8.5 score feels about right, maybe even conservative.

  Sehr gute Küche, Schönes Bad, Gutes Bett.
  
  What could be improved: Erdgeschoss war gewöhnungsbedürftig, daher konnte man beim schlafen das Fenster nicht öffnen.
  Leider gab es keine Richtige Dusche sondern nur eine Badewanne

  The location was very convenient, bus stop and big supermarket nearby. The apartment itself is very spacious and nice. There was necessary kitchen equipment and consumables, which was quite convinient.
  
  What could be improved: The 10:00 check-out time is quite early, considering check-in was only possible at 15, would be great if it was 11-12 at least. There is not enough storage available for clothes. Also, because there was no curtain around bathtub, which wasn't great

  Ausgesprochen freundlich zugewandte fernmündliche Kommunikation mit dem/der Anbieter/in, die auch unmittelbar bei unserer Anreise erreichbar waren und uns – ein etwas älteres Ehepaar – völlig verständlich und unkompliziert in unsere saubere – und mit allem für einen autarken Aufenthalt erforderlichen Ausstattung versehenen – Ferienwohnung eingeführt haben. Die Wohnung, welche im Erdgeschoss zu einer relativ verkehrsreichen Straße liegt, ist sehr gut isoliert; öffnet man an sonnigen Morgen – wie wir sie hatten – die Fenster, scheint der morbide Charme des tiefen Südens sonnig-geräuschvoll-wohltuend die Schluchten zwischen diesen Häusern aus der Gründerzeit wecken zu wollen. Apropos Gründerzeit: Bereits beim Betreten des Hauses atmet man beim Blick in den Eingangsbereich ein Stück "Leipziger innenarchitektonischer Geschichte"!
  Gegenüber die Bushaltestelle, kurz um die Ecke die Straßenbahn; hervorragende Verkehrsanbindung. Den Pkw bei Ankunft ca. 15 m vom Hauseingang entfernt geparkt und erst am Tag der Abreise wieder bewegt.
  Ebenso "um die Ecke" der Bäcker und Anbieter/in für das, was man gerade für die Selbstversorgung braucht.

  Die Wohnung ist sehr gemütlich und bietet ausreichend Platz. Wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt. Anfragen an den Gastgeber wurden umgehend beantwortet. Die Schlüsselübergabe bei An-und Abreise war sehr unkompliziert und sehr gut erklärt. Parken war auch kein Problem. Wir können die Wohnung sehr empfehlen.

  Schöne Altbauwohnung. Möglichkeit, selbst zu kochen in gut ausgestatteter Küche, Senseo-Kaffeemaschine mit Pads vorhanden. Sogar Standard-Gewürze vorhanden, nur Zucker war keiner da. Komfortable Badewanne. Fernseher mit Netflix, ohne eigenes Konto nutzbar. Guter ÖPNV-Anschluss. Freundliche, service-orientierte Gastgeber. Angenehme Wohngegend mit vielen Restaurants in der nahen Umgebung. Rewe gleich um die Ecke. Wir haben uns zwei Tage sehr wohlgefühlt. Die Wohnung ist von der Größe ideal für 2 Personen.

  The apartment was just like in the photos. Had a lot of kitchen utensils and appliances, which was great since I was cooking myself. We had problems receiving messages from booking.com, we received no emails about check in. But the hosts were very nice and sent us all information through whatsapp and helped us receive keys while on the phone call.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is on the first floor, has very big echo and very bad sound insulation. Everything that is happening on the staircase can be heard in the apartment. It was especially uncomfortable on Saturday night when many people were partying
