Look, I’ll be straight with you about Hinterhaus Apartment No4 – it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be fancy, but somehow gets everything right. The building sits on Josephstraße in Alt-West, which honestly is perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually living in Leipzig rather than just passing through. You’re walking distance from the Plagwitz area where all the cool stuff is happening, but far enough away that you won’t have drunk students stumbling past your window at 3am.

The apartment itself has that solid German efficiency thing going on – everything works, nothing’s flashy, but you can tell someone actually thought about how people live. The kitchen has proper knives (I mean, when’s the last time that happened in a rental?), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling like you’re playing Tetris with your suitcase. What I really appreciated was the natural light – these old Leipzig buildings have these massive windows, and No4 makes the most of it. The neighborhood’s got this lived-in vibe that you don’t get in the touristy center… you know, actual bakeries where locals grab their morning bread, not just souvenir shops.

Honestly, the 8.2 rating makes total sense once you stay here. It’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it nails the basics and then some. The building’s got character – you can hear it settling at night, but not in an annoying way, more like it’s telling stories. Parking can be a bit of a hunt (welcome to German cities), but the tram connections are solid, and you’re maybe 15 minutes from the Hauptbahnhof when you need to be. The check-in was refreshingly human – actual communication, not some sterile key-pickup routine. I’d definitely come back, especially since Alt-West is turning into one of those neighborhoods that’s cool now but won’t be affordable forever. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying an extra day just because you’re comfortable, which honestly might be the best compliment I can give any accommodation.

  What could be improved: Im Schlaf und Wohnzimmer ist es bei offenen Fenstern sehr hellhörig. Wenn jemand auf dem Bürgersteig redet, klingt es, als wäre die Person in der Wohnung.

  I had a fantastic stay at Apartment Hinterhaus in Leipzig. It truly felt like a home away from home! The apartment is spacious, immaculately clean, and centrally located, making it perfect for both exploring the city and working remotely.
  
  Although I initially had some trouble finding the place, the owner went above and beyond, even during a late check-in, to guide me and ensure I settled in comfortably. They were incredibly responsive and genuinely cared about my experience, even asking for feedback.
  
  Overall, a welcoming and comfortable spot that I’d highly recommend!

  Tolle Lage, gepflegte Wohnung (wie auf den Bildern). Das nötigste in der Küche und Bad vorhanden (Handtücher, shampoo, Küchenutensilien usw). Getrenntes Schlafzimmer vom Wohnbereich, gute Anbindung zu Supermarkt öffentliche Verkehrsmittel, Cafes, Bars, Restaurants !
  
  What could be improved: Check-In Zeit, leider warteten wir mit Gepäck bis knapp 16Uhr bis der Wohnungsschlüssel zur Verfügung stand. Ansonsten tip top, sehr zu empfehlen!

  Schöne Ferienwohnung in sehr guter Lage in Lindenau. In einer ruhigen Straße gelegen, jedoch zahlreiche Cafés, Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten um die Ecke. Schlicht und gemütlich eingerichtet, alles Notwendige vorhanden.

  The property was in a great location, close to two big supermarkets and several good restaurants.
  
  What could be improved: It was very dusty and dirty. I could not stop sneezing every time I move the curtains. We were also inconvenienced by the internet being cut off for two nights consecutively. This tremendously affected my communication with work in Australia. No apologies was offered by the host also.
