I mean, when you’re climbing up to the first floor on Nernststraße (it’s the left door, by the way – don’t make the mistake I almost did), you’re not expecting much from the industrial-sounding street name. But once you’re inside, it’s like stepping into someone’s actual home, not some sterile hotel room.

The thing about staying in Möckern is that you’re technically in Leipzig, but it feels more like a quiet residential neighborhood where actual families live. I loved hearing kids playing in the courtyards in the morning – gave the whole area this authentic German suburban vibe. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious, and I’m talking about rooms where you can actually spread out your stuff without tripping over suitcases. The kitchen was probably my favorite part because you could tell it was designed by someone who actually cooks (there’s proper counter space and the knives aren’t those dull hotel ones). Plus, grocery shopping is easy – there’s a decent supermarket maybe a ten-minute walk away, and you’ll pass some surprisingly good local bakeries on the way.

What really sold me on this place was how quiet it gets at night, but you’re still only about twenty minutes by tram to Leipzig’s city center. The 9.2 rating makes total sense when you realize you’re getting four-star comfort without the four-star noise and crowds. Parking was actually straightforward too, which anyone who’s tried to navigate German city parking will appreciate. The owners clearly put thought into the little things – decent WiFi, blackout curtains that actually work, and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper. I mean, it’s not fancy in that Instagram-perfect way, but it’s the kind of place where you find yourself making coffee in the morning and thinking “yeah, I could live here for a week.” If you’re traveling with family or just want space to breathe between exploring Leipzig’s music scene and historic spots, this beats cramming into a city center hotel room any day.

  The apartment is very well furnished, new and clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything, the bathroom as well. The towels and the bed sheets smell wonderfully. Better than in most hotels.
  
  What could be improved: Really nothing but one suggestion for the cleaning service they employ. There was a mouldy coffee filter forgotten in the coffee brewing machine.
