gapart – Apartments mit Küche Overview

You know what struck me first about gapart? The name sounds a bit quirky, but honestly, it perfectly captures what this place is – it’s not trying to be some fancy hotel, it’s just really good at being apartment-style accommodations that actually work. Located on Kirschbergstr in Leipzig’s Nordwest district, it sits in one of those neighborhoods that feels authentically German without being touristy about it.

The kitchen situation here is what sets it apart, and I mean this in the best way possible. These aren’t those sad hotel kitchenettes with a broken coffee maker and two plates – we’re talking actual functional kitchens where you can cook a proper meal. The appliances are decent quality (I’m talking proper German engineering here), and there’s enough counter space that you won’t feel like you’re playing kitchen Tetris every time you want to make breakfast. It’s particularly brilliant if you’re staying for more than a couple nights, because let’s be honest, eating out for every meal in Germany gets expensive fast, even though the food scene in Leipzig is pretty fantastic.

The location in Nordwest is actually quite smart – you’re far enough from the city center chaos to get a good night’s sleep (and parking isn’t a complete nightmare), but close enough that getting into the heart of Leipzig doesn’t require a major expedition. The tram connections are solid, which locals will tell you is half the battle in this city. The neighborhood itself has that lived-in feel with proper bakeries and small shops where people actually do their daily shopping, not just tourist spots. There’s something refreshingly normal about walking to grab groceries in the morning and seeing the same faces the locals see.

What really won me over was how the whole operation runs – check-in was straightforward without being overly formal, and the staff seemed to genuinely know their stuff about the area rather than just reciting scripts. The apartments themselves are clean and well-maintained without being sterile. You’ll find little touches that suggest someone actually thinks about what travelers need – proper lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, shower pressure that doesn’t make you question your life choices. The WiFi works properly too, which shouldn’t be noteworthy but somehow still is in 2024.

The 8.8 rating makes complete sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers solidly on what it promises. I’d say it’s particularly good for people who want some independence during their stay – whether that’s business travelers who need to actually get work done, or tourists who prefer exploring a city at their own pace rather than being tied to hotel meal times and services. The kitchen thing really is a game-changer, especially if you’re dealing with dietary restrictions or just want to start your day with proper coffee made the way you like it.

Reviews of gapart – Apartments mit Küche

  • Exceptional – Brad from United Kingdom – 31 July 2025 (10/10)

The host was super friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Lovely apartment equipped with everything we needed.

What could be improved: There is only a thin, net curtain in the bedroom which does little to stop light. Personally, I would have preferred some form of blackout blind/curtain.

  • Superb – Lembit from Estonia – 19 May 2025 (9/10)

It is a great combo. Excellent location: 2 mins to train that takes you to the heart of the city – Markt – in 15 mins. Stop for tram – 6 mins. We found music in many places in the city and we enjoyed that. When you get back home after the day in the city – you have all amenities you need.
We got sunny days and warm evenings as an extra bonus. 😉 We liked it all and recommmend! 🙂
