The name makes it sound like some massive hotel complex, but honestly, it’s this intimate apartment-style spot tucked away on Heinkstraße that feels more like staying at a well-organized friend’s place than a typical hotel. I mean, Schönefeld-Abtnaundorf isn’t exactly where tourists usually end up – it’s this quiet residential area north of Leipzig’s center – but that’s actually part of what makes it work so well.

The building itself has that solid German construction feel, and the apartments are properly spacious with actual kitchens you can cook in (not just those sad little coffee stations most places give you). What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – you’re far enough from the Auenwald and the main roads that you don’t get that constant city hum, but close enough that getting into Leipzig’s Altstadt is just a quick tram ride. The 8.7 rating makes sense once you’re there because it’s one of those places that does the basics really, really well. Check-in was smooth, the Wi-Fi actually works throughout the apartment, and there’s proper parking – which, let’s be honest, can be a nightmare in Leipzig proper.

Here’s the thing though – this isn’t a place where you’ll have a concierge or room service, so if that’s what you need, look elsewhere. But if you’re the type who likes having your own space, maybe picking up groceries from the Kaufland nearby and settling in for a few days, it’s perfect. The kitchens are stocked well enough that I ended up cooking dinner most nights, and there’s something nice about having a proper dining table instead of perching on a hotel bed with takeout. The location grows on you too – initially I thought being in Abtnaundorf might be inconvenient, but you’re actually really well connected to both the city center and the airport area. Plus, you get to see how actual Leipzigers live, walking past the little gardens and hearing kids playing in the courtyards. It’s three-star in terms of amenities, sure, but the space and the genuine local feel make it punch above its weight. If you’re planning to spend serious time in Leipzig rather than just passing through, this is the kind of place that lets you actually settle in and explore the city like you live there.

  Tolle Unterkunft, perfekt für ein paar schöne Tage in Leipzig. Sie liegt in einer ruhigen Gegend mit guter Infrastruktur. Man kann entweder mit nahe gelegenen Bus oder Tram ins Zentrum fahren oder man macht einen ausgedehnten Spaziergang durch den bunten Leipziger Osten in die Innenstadt. Die Kommunikation mit Marcel war absolut freundlich und unkompliziert. Ein- und Auscheckzeiten sind sehr entgegengekommene. Die Wohnung war tipptopp sauber, sehr hübsch eingerichtet, bequem und auch die Küche ist gut ausgestattet. Wir waren rundum zufrieden!
