Here’s the thing about this place — it’s all about Kulkwitzer See, and once you see this lake, you’ll understand why couples rate the location so highly. The lake is literally a short walk away, and I mean, this isn’t just any body of water. It’s this gorgeous former quarry that’s been transformed into Leipzig’s go-to swimming and recreation spot. During summer, locals flock here for sailing and swimming, but even in cooler months, the walking paths around the water are perfect for clearing your head. The Lausen-Grünau area itself is residential and peaceful — you’re about 20 minutes from Leipzig’s city center, which gives you that perfect balance of tranquility and accessibility.

The Accommodation Experience

The apartment-style setup here really works well, especially if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two. I appreciated having actual space to spread out — there’s a proper kitchen area where you can prepare simple meals, which honestly saves money and gives you flexibility with dining times. The furnishing feels contemporary without being sterile, and the whole place has this upscale yet homey vibe that makes you want to actually relax rather than just crash for the night. The windows offer nice views, and you can actually see glimpses of the lake area from certain angles.

Activities & Surroundings

What I really loved about staying here is how it puts you right in the middle of Leipzig’s outdoor scene. Kulkwitzer See has this network of cycling and walking trails that connect to other parts of the city — I actually rented a bike and rode all the way to Leipzig’s Plagwitz district one afternoon. The lake itself has several beaches (well, they call them beaches) where people sunbathe and swim during warmer months. There’s also a decent restaurant right by the water if you don’t feel like cooking in your apartment. The whole area has this weekend-getaway feel, even though you’re technically still within Leipzig’s boundaries.

Couples especially seem to connect with this place, and after staying here, I totally get why they rate it over 8 out of 10. It’s got that romantic, away-from-it-all atmosphere without actually being isolated — you can walk to the lake for sunset views, then head back to your comfortable apartment for a quiet evening.   Uns hat alles sehr gut gefallen. Die Unterkunft ist eine Wohnung in einer Siedlung mit allem was man benötigt. Die kleine Küche mit Spülmaschine ließe keine Wünsche offen, auch wenn wir nicht gekocht haben. Die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und es lief alles unkompliziert ab. Das wir die vorab ausgefüllten Dokumente nicht via Booking senden konnten, da Booking keine Anhänge übermitteln, war kein Beinbruch, denn wir konnten das sofort unkompliziert via Photo erledigen – also gar kein Problem. Wir werden sehr gerne wiederkommen, denn für uns passte alles gut.

  Tolle Ferienwohnung, hat alles was man braucht. Sehr nettes Team und hilfsbereite Nachbarschaft. Ideal für Stadterkundungen oder Touren ins Umland, in 2 min zu Fuß an der Tram, Aldi und Rewe direkt um die Ecke und der See ist auch fußläufig zu erreichen. Gute Anbindung an die Autobahn und ein kostenloser Parkplatz direkt vor dem Haus ist auch kein Problem. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder.
