You know what struck me first about FeWo “Am Auwald”? The name actually makes perfect sense once you’re there – this place really does sit right by Leipzig’s Auwald forest, and honestly, that’s half the magic. I mean, you’re technically still in the city (Alt-West district, which locals know as one of the quieter residential areas), but step outside and you’ve got these gorgeous woodland paths practically at your doorstep. The address – 8 Eigene Scholle – sounds a bit quirky, but it’s actually on this peaceful little street where you can actually find parking, which anyone who’s driven around Leipzig will tell you is no small miracle.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their place, except everything actually works perfectly. I stayed there last spring and the owners had clearly thought about all those little things that drive you crazy in most rentals – proper blackout curtains (crucial if you’re trying to sleep past sunrise), a coffee machine that doesn’t require an engineering degree, and thank god, really good wifi. The 4-star rating feels right; it’s not trying to be some fancy hotel with marble everything, but the quality is definitely there. What really got me was how quiet it stays at night – I guess being tucked away from the main drags like Karl-Liebknecht-Straße helps, plus the forest kind of buffers any city noise. During the day though, you’re only about a 15-minute tram ride from Leipzig’s Zentrum, and the connections are pretty reliable.

The thing is, most tourists end up staying right in the old town center, which honestly can get pretty hectic (especially during trade fair season – avoid that chaos if you can). But this spot gives you the best of both worlds. You can walk into the Auwald for morning runs or evening strolls – and I’m talking proper forest here, not just some city park with a few trees. There’s something almost therapeutic about coming back from a day of sightseeing to this green, quiet neighborhood. The local Rewe is just a few minutes’ walk if you want to grab groceries, and there’s this little bakery nearby that locals queue up at on weekend mornings. I get why it’s got that 9.2 rating – it’s one of those places where everything just works without any drama, and you end up feeling like you’re living in Leipzig rather than just passing through. Perfect if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two and want to actually settle in somewhere that feels real.

  Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und modern eingerichtet, Vermieter sehr freundlich, Schlüsselübergabe problemlos. Direkte Lage am Gewerbepark – Bäcker, Fleischer, Kaufland kaum mehr als eine Minute entfernt. Bus in die Innenstadt (derzeit) 1x pro Stunde, benötigt dann 30 Minuten.
  
  What could be improved: Die Terrasse ist vom Parkplatz quasi nur durch eine Wiese getrennt – persönlich hätte ich Büsche / Hecken schön gefunden, damit es dort gemütlicher und privater ist. Da wir tagsüber aber kaum da waren, war es für uns nicht so wichtig, nachts ist es ruhig.

  Die Wohnung ist groß, sauber und zweckmäßig eingerichtet, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind direkt daneben. Alles, was man braucht, ist da – und auch noch ein bisschen mehr ;-). Eine Wohnung zum Wohlfühlen.
  
  What could be improved: Ungünstig war nur die Lage. Die Anbindung ans öffentliche Netz ist nicht wirklich gegeben und wir waren auf Taxis angewiesen, um in die Stadt zu kommen. Selbst die taten sich manchmal nicht leicht, die Wohnung zu finden, da sie sich in einem Seitenweg befinden.

  Sehr netter Empfang und nette Begrüßung. Schöne Einrichtung geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Schöne große Terrasse und großes Bad mit großer Dusche. Waschmaschine gegen Entgeld vorhanden. Parkplatz vorhanden.
  
  What could be improved: Teils Fliegengitter, teils keine Fliegengitter an den Fenstern.
  Daher sehr viele Fliegen in der Wohnung gewesen.
  Digitale Anzeigen Küche teilweise ausgefallen und defekt.
  Handtuchhalter und WC Papier Halter total lose oder schief. Es fällt alles runterauf den Boden.
  Alles nur Kleinigkeiten… Die Wohneinheit ist schön und Vermieter sind freundlich. Sehr zu empfehlen.

  Auch wenn man direkt an einem Einkaufscenter war, war es nachts sehr ruhig.
  Vermieter sind sehr nett und haben fehlende Handtücher direkt gebracht. Auf Wunsch haben wir einen Sonnenschirm bekommen.
  
  What could be improved: Waschmaschine und Sauna gegen Gebühr. Wir waren 7 Nächte dort und mit drei Kindern. Da könnte man schon 2 Maschinen gratis dazu geben. Immerhin zahlt man auch einen stolzen Preis für sie Unterkunft.
  Der Teppich ist unzumutbar. Wir haben uns sehr geekelt.
  In der Ausstattung fehlten ein paar Dinge in der Küche. Und ich würde überall Fliegennetze empfehlen, Fliegen- und Mückenalarm.
