You know what surprised me about this place? I walked up to Floßplatz 34 expecting just another generic apartment rental, but Ferienwohnung Leipzig Floßplatz actually feels like someone’s thoughtfully designed home that they happen to let travelers borrow. The building sits right in Mitte – and I mean properly in the center, not one of those “central” places that’s actually a 20-minute tram ride from anything interesting. You’re basically a five-minute walk from the Market Square, which honestly makes all the difference when you’re carrying groceries back or heading out for dinner.

The apartment itself has this lived-in quality that I really appreciated – the furniture isn’t that sterile IKEA showroom setup you get in most rentals. There’s actual character here, with these lovely high ceilings that make the space feel bigger than it probably is, and windows that let in proper light (something you definitely notice more in Leipzig’s winter months). The kitchen’s well-equipped too, which matters if you’re planning to cook – I mean, there’s a proper coffee maker and enough counter space to actually prepare a meal, not just reheat takeout. One small thing though: the shower pressure isn’t amazing, but honestly, after walking around Leipzig all day, you’re just grateful for hot water.

What really sold me on this spot was the neighborhood vibe. Floßplatz isn’t touristy at all – you’ve got locals walking their dogs, kids playing in the courtyard areas, that sort of thing. There’s this bakery about two blocks down that does incredible pretzels (the owner’s there most mornings around 7), and you’re close enough to Karli – that’s Karl-Liebknecht-Straße for the uninitiated – to hit the bars and cafes without feeling like you’re staying in party central. The trams run frequently from nearby stops, so getting to the Völkerschlachtdenkmal or even day-tripping to Dresden isn’t a hassle. Parking can be a bit tricky if you’ve got a car – street parking fills up fast, especially on weekends – but there are a few paid lots within walking distance. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; none of that awkward key-pickup-from-a-random-cafe situation. The hosts clearly know what they’re doing – they’ve got this down to a system without making it feel impersonal. That 8.8 rating makes total sense when you actually stay there.

  Die Wohnung ist sehr schön und toll eingerichtet. In der Küche findet man alles was man braucht. Wir wurden sehr nett Empfangen und die Kommunikation mit der Gastgeberin war sehr gut.

  What could be improved: Leider liegt die Wohnung an einer viel befahrenen Straße, da ist es bei guten Temperaturen schlecht, die Fenster offen zu lassen.

  – Der private Parkplatz existiert nicht mehr. Darauf sollte dringend im Inserat hingewiesen werden, da dieser im Q&A Bereich leider noch umworben wird und die Parksituation in der Umgebung nicht einfach ist.

  Perfectly located near the heart of Leipzig, this fantastic apartment was exactly what we needed for out short stay in Leipzig. On a quiet street near a whole host of amenities and Leipzig's lovely parks, the accommodation is stylish, comfortable and modern (and yet in a building with characterisic East German charm). Ruth was also very accommodating and I'd happily recommend it to travellers passing through.
