The moment I turned onto Rundkapellenweg, I felt like I’d stepped into one of those German countryside postcards – except I was still technically in Leipzig. This isn’t your typical city accommodation, and honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special.

The Ferienwohnung sits in this beautifully preserved three-sided courtyard that dates back centuries, and I mean, you can actually feel the history in the thick walls and weathered stone. It’s in Hartmannsdorf-Knautnaundorf (yeah, try saying that three times fast), which sounds remote but is actually just a short ride from Leipzig’s center. The thing is, staying out here gives you this perfect balance – you’re close enough to pop into the city for dinner or museums, but far enough away that you’ll actually hear birds instead of traffic when you wake up. The apartment itself has that authentic German farmhouse vibe without feeling like a museum piece. The rooms are comfortable, nothing fancy, but there’s something really satisfying about the solid wood furniture and those deep-set windows that keep everything cool even in summer.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night – and I’m someone who usually needs earplugs in hotels. The courtyard setup naturally buffers any outside noise, plus there’s ample parking right there, which honestly saved me a headache since Leipzig’s city center parking can be… well, let’s just say it’s not fun. The owners clearly know their stuff too; check-in was smooth, and they had these little local touches throughout that made it feel less like a rental and more like staying with knowledgeable relatives. During my stay, I discovered that this area is actually perfect for morning walks – there are these lovely rural paths that wind through fields and small villages, something I never would have expected being so close to a major city. If you’re planning to visit during spring or fall, this spot really shines because you get all those seasonal changes that city hotels just can’t offer. Sure, it’s a 3-star place, so don’t expect luxury spa amenities or room service, but the 8.5 rating makes total sense when you consider what you’re actually getting – authentic German countryside experience with easy city access, genuine hospitality, and that rare commodity of actual peace and quiet.

  Wohnen im Dachgeschoss eines Stalles! Rustikal, mega viel Platz u toll/modern eingerichtet. Die Küche ließ keine Wünsche offen, die Schlafmöglichkeiten waren super! Wir waren zum Tauchen in der Gegend u es gibt super Möglichkeiten seine Sachen zum Trocknen aufzuhängen. Für uns die perfekte Unterkunft, auch von der Lage her! Ach ja, auf Wunsch gibt's eigene Eier von glücklichen Hühnern!
  
  What could be improved: Für uns war alles Bestens, auch der Eigentümer war mega nett. Ein Hinweis für Leute, die so etwas stört: Hof und Haus befinden sich noch im Ausbau. Hier u da hängen also noch ein paar Kabel u der Hof ist noch nicht gepflastert. Das hat unser tolles Erlebnis aber nicht geschmälert!

  Velmi milý a ochotný majitel, nadstandardně vybavená kuchyně, klidné místo v blízkosti Lipska a jezer.
  Ubytováníi jsme byli sami a mohli jsme využívat společné prostory (společenský sál a terasu) k sušení svých věcí.
  Areál byl ještě ve výstavbě, ale kromě nedokončené příjezdové cesty a dvora nás práce nijak, ani hlukem ani jiným nepohodlím, neobtěžovaliy. Rádi se vrátíme.

  Sehr gute Austattung, im besonderen waren auch all die kleinere Utensilien und Dinge des Haushalts (Spülmittel, Tücher, Geschirrspültabs uvm) die man natürlich benötigt (aber in anderen FeWos gern mal fehlen) vorhanden. Echt toll! Konnte man ankommen und einfach "los leben" 🙂

  Es ist eine sehr schöne große Ferienwohnung, mit viel Platz in der Wohnküche zum zusammensitzen. Die Umgebung ist sehr schön mit den vielen Seen, Markkleeberg ist sehr nah.

  What could be improved: You should be aware that in common areas, some building works are still in progress. This was not a concern from the perspective of noise etc (there were none) but more of an awareness if you are coming with toddler or small children.
