The apartment itself has this lived-in charm that I really wasn’t expecting from the photos online. It’s clearly been thoughtfully put together by someone who actually cares about the details – there’s proper lighting for reading (thank god), the kitchen has everything you’d actually need to cook a real meal, and the wifi doesn’t drop out every five minutes like so many places I’ve stayed. What really got me though was how quiet it is, even with the windows open. The building sits back from the main road just enough that you hear life happening around you without feeling like you’re camping next to traffic. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down that starts up around 6 AM, and honestly, waking up to the smell of fresh bread drifting through the windows became my favorite part of the morning routine.

The Süd district itself is sort of having this moment right now – it’s got that energy where longtime locals mix with students and young families, so you’ll find traditional German cafes right next to these quirky little vintage shops and surprisingly good international restaurants. I stumbled onto this Vietnamese place called Saigon just ten minutes’ walk away that completely blew my mind. The area around Connewitzer Kreuz gets pretty lively on weekend evenings, but in a good way – more community festival than rowdy bar scene. Parking was actually manageable (I was dreading this part), and getting to the main train station takes maybe fifteen minutes on the tram. The S-Bahn connections are solid too if you want to explore beyond the city. What I appreciated most was how the host clearly knows the neighborhood – they left this handwritten list of recommendations that included places I never would have found otherwise, like this tiny gallery space that only opens Thursday through Saturday and serves the best coffee I had in Germany. It’s those kinds of touches that make you feel like you’re staying somewhere special rather than just another rental property.

  Bäcker gleich um die Ecke, Straßenbahnhaltestelle ca 3min.von der Wohnung, sehr Zentral gelegen , Resturant"s Bäckerei,alles Fußläufig in der nähe. Vermieterin total nett habe selten so eine hilfsbereite Person kennengelernt.
