Honestly, when I first walked up to Exklusives Apartment ZOO on Ehrensteinstraße, I wasn’t expecting much from the outside – it’s just a quiet residential street in Mitte that most tourists probably walk right past. But you know what? That’s exactly what makes this place so perfect. You’re literally a ten-minute stroll from Leipzig’s famous zoo (hence the name, obviously), and even closer to the Gewandhaus if you’re into classical music, but the street itself stays surprisingly peaceful even during the day.

The apartment itself feels way more spacious than most four-star places I’ve stayed in Germany – I mean, you actually have room to spread out your stuff without everything ending up on the floor. The kitchen is properly equipped too, not just one of those sad little setups with a mini-fridge and a hot plate. I actually cooked dinner there a couple nights because, well, sometimes you need a break from German restaurant portions, right? What really got me though was how quiet it stays at night. You’d think being in the city center would mean dealing with street noise, but Ehrensteinstraße is residential enough that I slept better there than I do at home. The windows are solid too – proper German engineering and all that.

The whole experience just feels more… authentic, I guess? Like you’re staying in someone’s actual home rather than some sterile hotel room. There are these little touches everywhere that show someone actually cares about the place – decent coffee in the kitchen, extra blankets that don’t look like they came from a bulk supplier, even the Wi-Fi password was something clever instead of “password123.” And honestly, the location is just perfect for exploring Leipzig without feeling like you’re trapped in the touristy bubble around the Markt. You can walk to the Plagwitz district in about twenty minutes if you want to check out the artsy side of town, or head toward the Monument to the Battle of the Nations if you’re feeling ambitious. The S-Bahn connections are solid too – I took day trips to Dresden and Weimar without any hassle.

I stayed there in late September, which is honestly the perfect time for Leipzig (fewer crowds, decent weather, and you can still walk around comfortably), and the whole experience just felt effortless. Check-in was smooth, the space was exactly as advertised, and I never had that nagging feeling that I was missing out on something by not staying closer to the main square. Sometimes the best travel experiences happen when you’re not trying so hard to be right in the middle of everything, you know?

  What could be improved: De tweede slaapkamer had een inpandig balkon. Daar hing een enorme rooklucht waardoor de slaapkamer geen frisse buitenlucht kon krijgen.

  Instructie voor het inchecken was zeer duidelijk en makkelijk. De deur werd elektronisch geopend.
  Het appartement ligt in een leuke en mooie buurt met veel restaurants. De dierentuin en een mooi park liggen zeer dichtbij. Het centrum bevindt zich op ongeveer een half uur wandelen.
  Het appartement is erg ruim en smaakvol ingericht. De bedden zijn goed.
  Er is een privéparkeerplaats die je kan gebruiken.
  Een bezoek aan de dierentuin is een absolute aanrader.
  We hebben enorm genoten zowel van het appartement als ook de directe omgeving!
  
  What could be improved: Ondanks dat er meer dan genoeg opbergruimte was in de grootste slaapkamer, misten we opbergruimte (zoals ladenkast) in de andere eveneens ruime slaapkamer.

  Great apartment. Great location. Accommodated 4 adults over from the UK to watch the football. Very spacious…I recommend!

  The ease to enter the property and collect the keys after calling the host, really friendly
  – The amazing Safari vibes of the property, great decoration really
  – Two spacious bed rooms with massive pillows, the living room area, the small balcony
  – The fact that you can park your car behind the building
  – WIFI is working really well
  – 2/3 tram stations from the city center (15 min)
  – Many great restaurants around (5 min walking) and one beer garten where they show the football games
  – The property is near a massive park, the famous zoo, and the Red Bull Arena (football stadium)
  – We forgot a few things in the apartment, the host gently offered us to send it back to our home we just had to pay the transportation Fees, thank you very much again for that!
  
  What could be improved: From the property perspective, nothing, everything was perfect for us 🙂
  – From the city perspective, be aware of the time you want to go home, no more trams after 0:30 am so you'll need to either take a taxi, lime or walk

  The property is in a great location, far enough off the Main Street not to be noisy but close enough for walking to places. The property is well equipped and decorated to a high standard throughout. Upon arrival at the property the cleanliness was exceptional.
