So I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Elegance Suites Leipzig on Graßdorfer Straße, I wasn’t expecting much. I mean, Volkmarsdorf isn’t exactly the postcard part of Leipzig, you know? It’s this sort of up-and-coming residential area that most tourists never see. But here’s the thing that caught me off guard: this place actually gets it right in ways that a lot of fancier hotels completely miss.

The building itself has this understated charm – it’s not trying too hard to impress, which I appreciate. When you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually thought about how people live, not just how they sleep for one night. The suites (and they really are suites, not just hotel rooms with a sitting area thrown in) have proper kitchenettes with full-sized fridges, which honestly saved me a fortune since Leipzig’s restaurant scene, while amazing, can add up quickly. The beds are what I’d call “properly firm” – not that squishy hotel nonsense that leaves you feeling like you slept in quicksand. And the windows actually open, which might sound trivial until you’ve spent a week in hermetically sealed hotel rooms breathing recycled air.

What really won me over was the location, though it took me a day or two to realize it. You’re about a 15-minute tram ride from the Hauptbahnhof, but here’s what’s brilliant about that – you get to see actual Leipzig neighborhoods instead of just bouncing between tourist spots. There’s a decent bakery two blocks down (the woman behind the counter speaks perfect English, by the way), and if you walk maybe ten minutes toward the city center, you hit some genuinely local bars where you won’t hear another American accent all evening. The 4 and 7 trams run pretty regularly, even late at night, so getting back from the Gewandhaus or wherever isn’t a hassle. Parking’s easy too, which anyone who’s driven in German city centers will tell you is basically a miracle. The only minor thing – and I’m nitpicking here – is that the walls aren’t exactly soundproof, so if you’re a super light sleeper and end up next to a family with kids, well, you’ll know about it. But honestly, most of the other guests seemed to be business travelers or couples, so it stayed pretty quiet during my stay. The staff runs the place like they actually care about it, not like they’re just collecting paychecks, and that 9.1 rating makes total sense once you’ve been there a few days. It’s the kind of place where everything just works the way it should.

  Это новый дом. В квартире приятно пахло, было чисто , есть все для не долгого проживания. Очень удобные кровати. Для ребёнка в шкафу была подушка и одеяло , но нас очень удивило что нет простыни для дивана-кровати. Уютная терраса но нет никакой мебели там , было бы неплохо столик со стульями. Стиральной машины в квартире нет, но хозяин любезно разрешил воспользоваться стиральной машиной в подвале. Мы провели несколько дней и остались довольны этими апартаментаментами 😃
