Centrum, Centrum, direkt im Centrum! Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Centrum, Centrum, direkt im Centrum!” I thought someone was having a bit too much fun with German directness. But you know what? They’re not wrong. This little 3-star spot sits right on Thomaskirchhof, literally steps from St. Thomas Church where Bach used to work his magic. I mean, you can practically hear the organ practice from some rooms.
The location is honestly ridiculous in the best way possible. You’re in the heart of Leipzig’s old town – not touristy-heart, but actual living-breathing-city heart. There’s this great coffee shop around the corner that locals actually use (not just tourists Instagramming their lattes), and you can walk to the Gewandhaus in about three minutes. The building itself is classic Leipzig architecture, all that gorgeous stonework, though being on the first floor means you’ll hear some street noise. Not terrible, just… city sounds, you know? Actually kind of charming once you get used to it.
What surprised me most was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood. When I asked about dinner spots, they didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – they told me which nights the restaurant two streets over has their best schnitzel, and warned me that the tram gets packed around 5 PM near Augustusplatz. Small things, but they matter when you’re trying to navigate a new city. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid 3-star – clean, functional, nothing fancy but everything works. The shower had proper pressure (always a gamble in historic buildings), and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. I actually slept better than I expected, considering I was right in the city center.
The 8.3 rating makes total sense once you spend a night there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not – no marble lobbies or fancy spa treatments – but it nails the fundamentals. Quick check-in, helpful local knowledge, and that location that just can’t be beat. If you’re the type who wants to step out your door and immediately be part of the city rather than observing it from some sanitized hotel bubble, this is your spot. Plus, being in Mitte means you can easily walk to both the trendy Plagwitz district and the more traditional Zentrum without dealing with trams or taxis. Just pack light shoes – you’ll be doing a lot of walking on those beautiful cobblestones.

Reviews of Centrum, Centrum, direkt im Centrum!
Superb – Dirk from Germany – 7 June 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: Kein WLAN. Nur eine kleine Auswahl verfügbarer TV-Sender.Exceptional – Alex from United Kingdom – 11 December 2024 (10/10)
Peter the host was exceptionally friendly and met us on arrival. The location was fantastic. Right in the centre literally 30 seconds to the christmas market.

Very nice host, good communication.
Good – Radek from Czech Republic – 24 May 2024 (7/10)
It's in the centre
Great location and suitable for young children – Daniel from Sweden – 3 August 2023 (8/10)
The location is amazing; right next to Thomaskirche in the heart of the old town. The host was very nice and was easy to contact over phone. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen. Bathroom was nice and came with a bath and shower (with good water pressure). The apartment was suitable for us and our 9 month old baby: the crib that was provided was good, there was a lot of space for him to crawl around and the apartment was safe and free from hazards.
What could be improved: The cleanliness of the apartment was ok but not great: there was a lot of dust under the sofa and bed, the fridge needed cleaning and the shelves in the kitchen required a clean. Nothing unsafe or troublesome, but it didn't make the best first impression. The host was very nice, but was only contactable over the phone; it would have been nice if they used the messaging function on booking.com.Good – Reina from Japan – 24 July 2023 (7/10)
It's within walking distance of the central station.
What could be improved: You need to tell them exactly the arrival time. The key is hand-delivered.
There are books in the corner of the room. They are covered with dust.My child touched them, so I had to clean it first."We had a very pleasant experience – Mehriban from Germany – 13 April 2023 (10/10)
Great apartment, right in the center, super friendly host!
What could be improved: It was a bit loud at night, but that is fully expected since the location is very central. No complaints!Great location but the most horrid host – Julie-pia from United Kingdom – 27 February 2023 (7/10)
The location was good and it suited what we needed perfectly.
What could be improved: The host was the rudest man I have ever met. He berated me because when I gave a check in time I didn't' realise it had to be correct. I have never known someone be so rude to me in my life before. We got there late because our flight was cancelled.Exceptional – Filip from Czech Republic – 23 October 2022 (10/10)
The appartment is in a total central position with windows to the quite courtyard. Really great and quite cheap accommodation in Leipzig. Recommended!
Very good – David from United States – 12 October 2022 (8/10)
The location is perfect if you're interested in being directly in the heart of the city. The apartment is comfortable and has the bonus of windows and back door into a courtyard where you can go and sit outside. The kitchen has the necessary basics.
What could be improved: No WiFi – can be a problem if you're traveling and need to limit data use.
The apartment was generally clean but has a lived in feel. Shower curtain is mouldy, towels and linens are well used and rough. A few simple upgrades could make it much nicer and cleaner feeling.
