Book Hotel Leipzig Overview

You know what struck me first about Book Hotel Leipzig? The name is refreshingly honest – it’s literally on Auguste-Schmidt-Strasse, right in the thick of Mitte, and you can practically roll out of bed and land in a bookshop. I mean, there’s something charmingly unpretentious about a place that doesn’t try to convince you it’s fancier than it is. It’s a solid 3-star spot that actually delivers on what a 3-star should be, which honestly feels rare these days.

The location is what really sells it though. You’re smack in the center of Leipzig’s buzzing district, and I’m talking proper walkable distance to everything that matters. The Market Square is maybe a 10-minute stroll, and if you’re into the whole literary scene (which, come on, you’re staying at “Book Hotel”), the old book quarter is right there. What I loved was how quiet it gets at night despite being so central – Auguste-Schmidt-Strasse isn’t one of those main drags where trams are clanging by at all hours. You get the city energy during the day but can actually sleep without earplugs.

The rooms have this clean, no-nonsense vibe that works. Nothing fancy, but everything functions properly, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed. The beds are actually comfortable (not too soft, not like sleeping on concrete), and the bathrooms are compact but well-designed. I appreciated little touches like decent water pressure and towels that don’t feel like sandpaper. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too – not overly chatty, just efficient and friendly, which is exactly what you want after a long travel day. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but they’ll point you toward the nearest garage, and honestly, you probably won’t need your car much once you’re settled in. That 8.9 rating makes total sense – it’s the kind of place where everything just works without any drama, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need in a city break.

To book hotel in Leipzig during the famous Leipzig Book Fair season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts literary enthusiasts and music lovers from around the world.

  • Excellent hotel and staff. Great value. – Stephen from United Kingdom – 12 June 2025 (9/10)

Hotel was spotless. Room was very good and bed very comfortable. Staff were excellent. Very close to the city centre. Breakfast was nice, the food was excellent quality. Pastries that were fresh. Staff attentive.

What could be improved: Breakfast was just a little too expensive. Shutters on windows did not keep out all the light in the early morning. Would have preferred curtains. However it was dark enough during the night.

  • Full of character and charm. – Ilma from South Africa – 6 June 2025 (10/10)

The Hotel is really wonderfully located close to lots of attractions. I loved the book theme and the thought put into the ideas surrounding the theme. The staff were attentive and assisted whenever necessary. The room we had was spacious and had all the necessities. Thanks for the small sweetie gifts and complimentary bottle of water in the room.

  • Very nice hotel with personal touch at a perfect location – Peter from Belgium – 3 June 2025 (9/10)

Nice hotel with modern clean and spacious rooms and a very good bath room. The 'book' theme adds a nice personal touch. People are very friendly. The breakfast is really good. It is located very close to the center of the town, but yet in a quiet environment.

What could be improved: to be honest, not one bad remark
