Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Bleipzig ;o)” I thought someone was having a laugh with me. That little winky face in the actual hotel name? It felt gimmicky. But you know what, after spending three nights there on Sebastian-Bach-Straße, I get it now. This place doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s exactly why it works so damn well.

The location is absolutely perfect if you actually want to experience Leipzig rather than just Instagram it. You’re right in Mitte, which means you can stumble to St. Thomas Church (where Bach worked, hence the street name) in about five minutes, but you’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear drunk tourists at 2 AM. The building itself has this lovely old Leipzig character – those high ceilings and original moldings that make you feel like you’re staying in someone’s beautifully renovated apartment rather than a generic hotel box. What really got me was the attention to small things – the lighting actually makes sense, the shower pressure is fantastic (seriously, this matters more than people admit), and they’ve somehow managed to soundproof the rooms properly. I mean, Leipzig can get pretty lively, especially around the market square area, but inside it was blissfully quiet.

The staff here seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs, which is rarer than it should be. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling, and when I asked about parking – because driving in Leipzig’s old town is basically a puzzle game – they had solid recommendations for nearby spots that wouldn’t cost me a fortune. I loved that they knew their neighborhood inside out; when I mentioned wanting good coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the desk guy immediately directed me to this little roastery on Gottschedstraße that I never would have found otherwise. Honestly, the 9.7 rating makes perfect sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Leipzig – it’s trying to be the kind of place where everything just works and you feel comfortable immediately. The rooms are modern without being sterile, the beds are properly comfortable (none of that rock-hard European hotel bed nonsense), and there’s enough space to actually unpack if you’re staying more than one night. They’ve also got this nice communal area on the ground floor where you can grab coffee in the morning or work on your laptop if your room feels too cozy. It’s the sort of place where you end up extending your stay if you can, and where you’d definitely book again without hesitation.

• Eine Reise wert – Talfahrt from Germany – 9 May 2025 (10/10)

  Die Wohnung ist gut gelegen, ein Späti und ein Konsum in der Straße. Die City ist fußläufig erreichbar. Es ist geräumig, sauber, und die Küche ist voll ausgestattet. Toll ist der überdachte Balkon mit Couch und Elektrogrill. Die Kommunikation ist unproblematisch und die Türöffnung per Code komfortabel.
  
  What could be improved: Die Betten sind teilweise etwas schmal, aber es hat gepasst. Als Dachgeschosswohnung muss man ein paar Treppen laufen. Für uns alles kein Problem, aber vielleicht für andere.

  Das Apartement befindet sich in idealer Lage, wenn man zwischen City, Park, Kanälen und Studentenviertel die Vielseitigkeit dieser überraschend grünen Stadt erkunden möchte. Das ist fußläufig kein Problem, aber auch mit guter Anbindung an die Öffentlichen möglich, quasi um die Straßenecke.
  
  Das Apartement ist hochwertig, geschmack- und liebevoll eingerichtet und es fehlt einfach an nichts. Hoher "Wohn"fühllevel…
  Ein zusätzliches Highlight ist die Dachterasse, auf der es sich nach und vor der Stadterkundung sehr gut chillen lässt.
  Es gibt sogar einen Grill dort.
  Auch die Küchenausstattung und die Elektrogeräte sind insgesamt hochwertig. Man könnte darin ohne Not ein Menue für zahlreiche Gäste zubereiten.
  Alles wirklich sehr schön. Der Empfang und die Organisation waren freundlich, zuverlässig und unkompliziert.
  Wir kommen gerne wieder und empfehlen es wärmstens 😉 weiter!

  Sehr großzügige Wohnung mit umfangreicher Ausstattung. Es hat nichts gefehlt. Besonders gut hat uns der überdachte Balkon gefallen. Zentral aber ruhig in guter Wohngegend. Kommen sehr gerne wieder
