The location on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße is actually perfect if you want to be close to the action without dealing with the tourist crowds around Marktplatz. You’re maybe a 10-minute walk from the main train station (super handy if you’re doing the whole German rail thing), and honestly, some of Leipzig’s best cafés are scattered around this neighborhood. There’s this little bakery just down the street that locals hit up for morning pastries – way better than hotel breakfast sometimes. The building itself has that solid East German architecture feel, but they’ve done something interesting with the interiors that doesn’t feel sterile or trying too hard to be trendy.

What I really appreciated was how the staff actually knew the city. Like, when I asked about getting to the Monument to the Battle of the Nations (because, let’s face it, everyone ends up going there), they didn’t just hand me a generic map – they told me which tram to take and mentioned that Wednesday afternoons are usually less crowded. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy, though the walls are a bit thin if you’re sensitive to noise. I could hear conversations in the hallway, but nothing that kept me up at night. Check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare (which, if you’ve driven in Leipzig’s center, you know that’s saying something), and the whole place just felt… reliable, I guess? That 8.3 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers on what it promises. If you’re the type who wants to spend your money on exploring Leipzig rather than on thread counts and marble bathrooms, BIG MAMA gets it right. Plus, you’re close enough to walk to the old Stasi museum and the Spinnerei art district without needing to figure out public transport every single day.

  Room clean, spacious, bed comfortable. Staff at the hotel very nice. If you want to spend a few nights in Leipzig, in a nice hotel close to the center, this hotel is ideal, at the same time it is quiet. Breakfast very good, coffee not much, it is better to pay extra at the reception in the bar for coffee. Very nicely equipped bar, where they have no problem to make you a drink even at 11 pm.

  Good location next to Leipzig main station, trams tracks are just outside – good for transportation. Comfy beds, fully stocked bathroom with earplugs, shower gel/shampoo and towels. Helpfull personel
  
  What could be improved: Be mindfull of trams track outside hotel, it can be noisy. For us temperature was good but we didn't see AC in our room so during summer it probably can get hot. Finding parking spot can be challenging but there's parking zone in streets, hotel got parking spots and there's city parking building – all paid during week days

  This was a very comfortable stopover near the train station in Leipzig. The bed was big and the room was spacious. The staff were lovely. I didn’t have breakfast but the vibe looked great. Coffee was nice!
