You know what caught me off guard about the Best Western Premier Royal Blue? It’s actually nothing like what you’d expect from a typical Best Western. I mean, the moment you walk through that entrance on Nikolaikirchhof – which is honestly a bit tricky to find at first since the main address shows Grimmaische Straße – you realize this place has some serious personality. The whole adults-only thing isn’t just a marketing gimmick either; there’s this genuinely sophisticated vibe that runs through everything, from the lobby design to how quiet the hallways stay even on weekend nights.

The location is pretty brilliant if you know Leipzig at all. You’re literally steps from St. Nicholas Church, which might not sound exciting until you realize this is where those Monday demonstrations started back in ’89 that helped bring down the Berlin Wall. But honestly, what I love most is how you can walk to the Old Town Hall in about three minutes, hit the market square for morning coffee, then duck into all those little passages and courtyards that most tourists never find. The Mädler Passage with Auerbach’s Keller is right there – and I’m talking a two-minute stroll, not some “conveniently located” travel brochure nonsense.

What really won me over though was how they handle the details. The rooms have this clean, modern feel without being sterile, and the beds are actually comfortable (you’d be surprised how many four-star places mess this up). The bathrooms are well-designed – good water pressure, decent toiletries, space to spread out your stuff. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this part of Mitte, but they’ll sort you out with nearby options. The staff genuinely knows the city too, which makes a difference when you’re trying to figure out whether to book that opera ticket or find a good restaurant that isn’t full of tour groups. I stayed there during one of Leipzig’s busier conference weeks and the service never felt rushed or impersonal. Plus, being adults-only means you’re not dealing with kids running around the breakfast area at 7 AM – which, let’s be honest, makes a huge difference when you’re trying to ease into your day with proper coffee and maybe plan out which museums or galleries to hit.

  Excellent location right at the center, a beautiful room, very clean and well designed, spacious enough, the breakfast is on the top floor, in a well-lit space with a balcony. Best hotel breakfast I’ve seen, such a huge selection of food. The staff were really nice and we had no issues whatsoever.

• Comfortable Stay in the Centre of Leipzig – Will from Australia – 24 July 2025 (8/10)

  The location is excellent. Access is uncomplicated and parking subsidised for patrons at a nearby public car park. Quiet despite being very central. Comfortable bed, including pillows. Room is not particularly spacious, but of no concerns if only using as a base for visiting the city. Bathroom is modern and of adequate size.
  The staff were very accommodating, presented us with a welcome drink and changed our room to a different floor because of faulty WiFi (see below).
  
  What could be improved: The reception is on the 5th level. Access is via an agonisingly slow elevator, unless one is of the sporting type, then the generous staircase will speed in and egress. Not remediable, I know, but needs to be factored in especially when leaving the hotel on a mission or schedule. High speed internet did not function at all on the level we were first accommodated. A WiFi problem on that particular floor at that time. Changing to a different floor fixed the problem.
