Best Western Hotel Leipzig City Centre Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Best Western on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße – it’s one of those places that grows on you. When I first walked up, honestly, the building doesn’t scream “wow” from the outside, but once you’re inside, you realize they’ve put their money in the right places. The lobby has this understated German efficiency thing going on, clean lines and actually comfortable seating (not those torture chairs some hotels think look modern). Check-in was smooth, no drama, and the staff spoke better English than my German – which, let’s face it, isn’t saying much.
What really sold me was the location, though. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Hauptbahnhof, which sounds like it’d be noisy, but honestly? The rooms are well-insulated, and being that close to the train station is clutch if you’re doing day trips to Dresden or Berlin. Plus, you can walk to the Market Square in about ten minutes – I mean, you’ll pass some decent cafés on the way, and that whole area around the Thomaskirche is just… well, it’s Leipzig at its most Leipzig, you know? The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 4-star – nothing fancy, but the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without living out of a suitcase. The bathrooms are modern, good water pressure, and they’ve got those little touches like decent toiletries that make you feel like they’re paying attention.
Here’s what I appreciated most, though – the breakfast situation is legit. None of that sad continental stuff with stale pastries. They do a proper German breakfast spread with good coffee, fresh bread, and yeah, the works if you’re into the whole cold cuts and cheese thing in the morning. The dining area gets busy around 8 AM (all the business travelers hitting the road), but go a bit earlier or later and it’s pretty relaxed. Parking was straightforward too, which in Leipzig city center is honestly a blessing – they’ve got their own garage, costs extra but worth it if you’re driving. The 7.9 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in town, but it does what it does really well. You’re paying for reliability and a great location without the premium prices you’d get closer to the opera house or in the trendy Südvorstadt area. If you want to actually experience Leipzig without spending half your day getting around, this place works.

What could be improved: bathroom a bit small. Breakfast hugely over priced.Superb – Bart from United States – 3 August 2025 (9/10)
Location is great! Not just trains, but trams and buses come into central hub. Easy to catch public transport for city. I was on 6th floor and didn't hear any noise. Could feel the rumble of trains and it put me to sleep like the womb. 15 Euro breakfast was excellent! Eggs and bacon, plus all other options. Wait staff kept it neat and running smoothly even when crowded. Room was small by American standards, but I was out in Leipzig each day and didn't notice. All fixtures and furniture was new and modern and clean. Front desk staff was competent and friendly.
Great location directly across from the central train station. – Jess from United States – 23 July 2025 (9/10)
We were using public transportation and the hotel was directly across from the central train station. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was quiet when the window was closed.
What could be improved: The air conditioner was average and we would have liked it if it made the room a little colder. We like a very cool room.Comfortable – Bell from South Africa – 8 June 2025 (8/10)
Staff very welcoming and assisted with a German letter.
What could be improved: We missed a kettle in the room. Could not make coffee.A perfect place to stay when travelling to Leipzig, with an extra point if you're doing it by rail. – Ryan from United Kingdom – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

Cosy clean with very friendly and responsive reception and cleaning staff. Location is great just like 2 minutes across is the train station. The noise from train station is very low because of the insulation from the windows.
