I mean, you walk into this 4-star spot on Toskastraße and there’s just… room to breathe. The apartment feels more like someone’s well-appointed home than a typical hotel setup, which makes sense given it’s in Möckern, this residential pocket that most tourists completely miss.

The location is actually pretty clever if you know Leipzig at all. Auensee is literally a five-minute walk away, and I’m talking about the actual lake where locals go to escape the city crowds – not some tourist trap. During summer, you’ll hear families heading down there in the early evening, kids with bikes and people carrying those fold-up chairs Germans love. The neighborhood itself has that lived-in feel you get in areas where actual Leipzigers live, complete with the corner bakery (opens at 6 AM sharp) and those typical East German apartment blocks that somehow manage to look charming rather than bleak. Parking wasn’t an issue when I was there, though I imagine it gets trickier during the warmer months when everyone’s heading to the lake.

What really sets this place apart – and probably explains that solid 7.9 rating – is how it handles the details. The kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to cook (good knife, decent pans, not just the bare minimum), and there’s enough counter space to spread out groceries from the Rewe down the street. The Wi-Fi works properly throughout the apartment, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong. I appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with the decor – it’s clean, functional, maybe a bit on the modern side but not aggressively so. The windows are double-glazed, so even though you’re near a moderately busy street, night noise isn’t really a problem. Check-in was straightforward, though like most apartment-style places, you’re dealing with key boxes rather than a traditional front desk – just something to keep in mind if you’re arriving super late or need immediate assistance with something. The whole setup works best for people who want that independent, settle-in-and-live-like-a-local experience rather than hotel-style service. For the price point and the amount of space you get, especially considering you’re still well-connected to Leipzig’s center via public transport, it’s honestly a pretty smart choice if you’re planning to stay more than just a night or two.

  Parking is in a safe private place in front of the window. The parking lot is just for your car.
