You know what caught me off guard about the Waldplatzpalais? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – and honestly, that’s kind of refreshing. I mean, sure, it’s a 3-star place with apartment-style rooms, but there’s something genuinely charming about staying right on Jahnallee where you can actually feel like you’re living in Leipzig rather than just visiting it.

The location is actually pretty brilliant if you know the city at all. You’re smack in Mitte, which means you can walk to the Marktplatz in about fifteen minutes (I timed it), and the whole Museum Quarter is practically at your doorstep. What I really appreciated though was how quiet it gets at night – Jahnallee isn’t one of those main drags where trams are clattering by at all hours. The building itself has this lovely old German architecture thing going on, and the apartments… well, they’re proper apartments, not just hotel rooms pretending to be something they’re not. You get a little kitchen area, which is perfect if you want to grab some fresh bread from one of the bakeries nearby (there’s this fantastic one just around the corner that opens ridiculously early).

I’ll be straight with you – the 7.1 rating feels about right. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any weird surprises. The check-in was smooth, parking wasn’t a nightmare (which, if you’ve driven in Leipzig’s center, you’ll appreciate), and the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood when I asked about decent dinner spots. The rooms are clean and functional – think IKEA meets traditional German efficiency. Some might find it a bit plain, but I found it refreshing after staying in places that try too hard with weird design choices. Plus, you’re literally a stone’s throw from some of Leipzig’s best cafes and that whole vibrant student scene around the university area. During the week it’s pretty chill, but weekends can get lively – in a good way, unless you’re someone who needs absolute silence to sleep. If you’re the type who wants to experience Leipzig like someone who actually lives here rather than bouncing between tourist traps, this place hits that sweet spot between comfort and authenticity.

  Wir waren zum Konzert in der Quaterback Arena, die fußläufig nah an der Unterkunft liegt. Die Ausstattung ist ok. Als wir Probleme mit dem Schlüsselkasten hatten, war der telefonische Ansprechpartner sofort zu erreichen und konnte helfen.
  
  What could be improved: Die Heizungen waren alle abgedreht, sodass die Räume sehr ausgekühlt waren.
  In dem kleinen Schlafzimmer wäre eine Nachtischlampe toll.

  Die Nähe zum Veranstaltungsort ist unschlagbar. Der Italiener im Erdgeschoss ist eine absolute Empfehlung!!!

  What could be improved: The Bed , as well as being so uncomfortable, the next day I discovered I has been bitten multiple times by bed bugs.
  The constant noise and vibration of trams passing all through the day and night also added to not a good stay.
  The apartment was terribly cold also.
  I would never use this property again.

  Very clean, good beds, towels, etc. Noisy trams. Easy walk to the centre. Good price in comparison.
