Apartments an der Arena Leipzig Overview

You know what caught me off guard about Apartments an der Arena Leipzig? It’s actually way more residential-feeling than you’d expect from the name. I mean, yes, you’re literally steps from the Red Bull Arena — you can hear the crowd roar during FC Leipzig matches if you’re into that sort of thing — but Friedrich Ebert Strasse has this surprisingly lived-in neighborhood vibe that most hotel districts completely lack.

The apartments themselves are honestly pretty solid for what they are. These aren’t your typical cramped European hotel rooms, but actual apartment-style setups with kitchenettes that you’ll actually want to use. The kitchens have proper German appliances (none of that flimsy tourist stuff), and I found myself grabbing groceries from the little markets along the street because, well, why not cook when you’ve got the space? The furnishing is that modern-but-not-trying-too-hard aesthetic — clean lines, neutral colors, everything functional without being sterile. Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving, though honestly in this part of Mitte you’re better off just using the tram system anyway.

What really makes this place work is the location itself. You’re in proper Leipzig here, not some sanitized tourist bubble. The Südvorstadt is just across the way with all its student bars and late-night eats, but you can also walk to the city center in about fifteen minutes if you don’t mind a pleasant stroll past some genuinely beautiful old buildings that somehow survived everything history threw at them. The area gets surprisingly quiet in the evenings (except during football season, obviously), and there’s something nice about falling asleep in a real neighborhood instead of on some generic hotel strip. The 8.2 rating makes total sense to me — it’s not luxury, but it’s thoughtfully done and genuinely comfortable. If you’re the type who likes having space to spread out and maybe pretend you live in Leipzig for a few days, this hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Apartments an der Arena Leipzig

  • Very good – Karsten from Germany – 6 August 2025 (8/10)

    Fast alles

What could be improved: Küchenausstattung, nur eine Kaffeetasse

  • Very good – Agiberlin from Germany – 8 June 2025 (8/10)

  • Disappointing – Dani from Romania – 7 May 2025 (4/10)

Pretty close to the city center.

What could be improved: We spent 3 nights in this location as booked. After the second night, on the morning of May 4, we found out that we had no hot water. We sent a message to the property through Booking. I was away from home during the day, returning in the evening. The surprise was even more unpleasant when I found out that we still had no hot water. Instead, I had a response from the owner saying that he had sent someone to see what was going on, but there was no one in the home (as if I should have waited for the plumber to fix the situation). I replied, also through Booking, that we were out of town, how could we stay in the house and wait?! Then, I was called by phone and told that the plumber had come and that there was a problem with the heating (Heizung), but to check the hot water situation in other apartments as well, so that we could shower in another apartment… I would like to clarify that we had accommodation in a 4-storey building, with 2 apartments per floor, and we were accommodated on the 4th floor. Based on the pin code provided by the owner (or administrator – I don't know exactly who the person is), we checked 2 other apartments one by one, the conclusion being that there was no hot water. At this point, the owner proposed that we move somewhere else, and he would pay for our accommodation. Since it was late and we had to leave early the next morning, we said that we didn't want to because it was tiring for us and we were waiting for another way to fix the situation. Then, he expressed his willingness to refund us the amount paid for the last night of accommodation, and for me to provide him with the IBAN via booking message, which I did. I kept waiting these days, I wrote back that I was waiting for the money in my account. He no longer responds to messages.

  • Duży i czysty apartament – Przemysław from Poland – 17 April 2025 (9/10)

Czyste i przestronne mieszkanie. Bezkontaktowe zameldowanie.

What could be improved: Słabe wi-fi.
    Dodatkowe łóżka niezbyt wygodne.

  • Die gute Unterkunft trug wesentlich zum guten Gelingen der Reise bei. – Karlheinz from Austria – 17 March 2025 (9/10)

    Die Sauberkeit und die Lage.
    Die Betreuung durch den Vermieter.
    Der Parkplatz in der Nähe.
    Für 4 Fußballfans ideal.

  • Superb – Andreas from Germany – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

  • It was alright. – Oleksandra from Ukraine – 7 December 2024 (7/10)

Most liked the location. The apartment was small, but there was enough space for two people. All information was provided via message, so it was easy to get to the apartment. In general, everything was fine.

What could be improved: It was pretty noisy. Someone of our neighbors hit the wall every night during our stay, it was hard to fall asleep. Also, the cabin shower was dirty and we find used gum on the side of the bed. The mirror in the room was not clean enough.

  • Great apartment. Great location. – Blumbergs from Latvia – 18 November 2024 (10/10)

All good. Very clean and nice apartament.

What could be improved: It would be great if there was an elevator.

  • Very good – Birgit from Germany – 31 October 2024 (8/10)

Gute, zentrumsnahe Lage und schöne Ausstattung.

What could be improved: Es war etwas laut, aufgrund der vorbeifahrenden Straßenbahnen.

  • Skvělá lokalita ale trošku hlučnější – Ivo from Czech Republic – 16 July 2024 (8/10)

Vzhledem k tomu, že jsme šli na fotbal, byla lokalita naprosto skvělá. Jen pár kroků od stadionu.

What could be improved: Apartmán je na poměrně rušné křižovatce, kde jezdí tramvaje – hlučnější.
