ACHAT Hotel Leipzig Messe Overview
Honestly, when I first pulled up to the ACHAT Hotel Leipzig Messe on Salzhandelsstraße, I wasn’t expecting much – it’s one of those solid 3-star places that business travelers seem to gravitate toward. But you know what? Sometimes those are exactly the hotels that surprise you in the best ways. The location is actually pretty clever if you think about it – you’re right in the Nord district, which means you can walk to the trade fair grounds (hence the “Messe” in the name), but you’re also not stuck in some soulless business park. There’s this nice residential feel to the neighborhood that a lot of visitors don’t expect.
The thing about this place is that it gets the basics really, really right. I mean, the rooms aren’t going to win any design awards, but they’re comfortable in that understated German way – good beds, decent-sized bathrooms, and windows that actually open properly (which is more than I can say for some fancier places I’ve stayed). The staff has that efficient-but-friendly vibe that you find in Leipzig – they’ll sort you out without making a big production of it. Parking was straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in German cities will appreciate. What I really liked was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re not far from the main action. The trams run regularly from nearby, so getting into Leipzig’s old town takes maybe fifteen minutes, and honestly, that’s perfect – close enough to explore, far enough to actually sleep.
The 7.7 rating makes total sense to me because this isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a well-run hotel that does its job without any fuss or pretense. The breakfast was solid (proper German bread, decent coffee, nothing fancy but filling), and I noticed they seem to have a lot of repeat business travelers, which usually tells you something about a place. If you’re coming for the trade fairs, obviously you can’t beat the location, but even if you’re just exploring Leipzig, this works well as a base. The price point feels fair for what you get, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that focuses on comfort over Instagram-worthy lobby shots. Would I stay here again? Yeah, definitely – especially if I wanted a good night’s sleep and easy access to both the business district and the city center without paying downtown prices.

What could be improved: Pillows were too soft. Firm pillows would be a nice addition, but the value was still good for the price

What could be improved: A bit old hotel but no big issue.Very satisfied with the stay. – Josip from Sweden – 1 September 2024 (8/10)
It was clean, comfy, trashcans on more places, Breakfast was great as well.
What could be improved: Old elevator, smell once i walked in the room was a bit weird but once i opened the window it was fine.Good stay in Leipzig – Aliaksei from Belarus – 17 February 2024 (8/10)
Standard hotel with all required for comfortable stay. Free parking, polite and helpful staff.
Nice small hotel in the outskirts of Leipzig – Darius2n from Indonesia – 28 August 2023 (8/10)
The room is quite spacious and clean. It has amenities such as microwave, fridge, and hair dryer. The fridge is also quite big, not a super mini fridge. TV is also nice with local and international channels. Bed is also comfy and big enough for 2 people.
What could be improved: Location is a little bit out of the city with a bit difficult public transport. Bus stop is nearby but the bus schedule there is very minimal. On Sundays there's no bus at all. The more reliable tram goes to the city every 10-20 minutes but the nearest stop is 2 km away.
No electric kettle. No AC during summer which makes it hot but I see heater that will be useful in the winter. The pressure of shower could be better.Great for what we needed. – Niels from Netherlands – 13 August 2023 (7/10)
The hotel is near to the highway which was where we were looking for.
What could be improved: The receptionists do not speak any EnglishRoom was good, but front desk staff unhelpful. Thankfully another guest helped with my enquiry. – Vivienne from Australia – 25 September 2022 (7/10)
Did not have breakfast. The location was further from the centre than I expected but that was ok as there was parking onsite.
What could be improved: Staff were unable to assist me with local transport information as they spoke no English and my German was inadequate to communicate effectively. This was surprising as the hotel is rated.
